Does anyone know what kind of circlip this is? I have a box of internal circlips and none of them seem to fit.  The ones I have seem to be the right diameter but too thick.  I took this one off to clean out the mechanism and it broke while flying in two different directions.  I've found a ton of types like in the image below but none that look like what's in my picture.

Maybe this?

That retaining ring in your picture doesn't appear to be a standard ring.

It's definitely weird. I can't find anything with the out turned ears like that.

A DIN472 should do the trick if you select the proper thickness.

McMaster Carr or WW Grainger should have what you need.

As much room as there is there you could use either a std internal or external circlip of the proper dimension.

I guess I gotta call the manufacturer.  If they don't have some I can buy, they can probably tell me what thickness to use.

I can't compress any of the external clips enough to get them even close to fitting.  The internal ones I have are too thick across the smallest dimension to fit under the lip.

the cost in time and cash to find, buy, and ship a replacement retainer will be more than just buying a new ratchet. (even if it is a $150 dollar torque wrench)

They're discontinued and I've already bought all them I could find at one time.  The new one's aren't here yet.

Did you mic the retainer? Find one close and use a whetstone. You don’t have to use one with the same legs as long as they fit in the relief.

No. I didn't know I needed to until they were already at .31C and there's no finding them at this point.  I have 3 sets of new ones arriving hopefully soon. I had hoped it just took a jellybean part that I already had a box of. If I can't find out from the manufacturer I'll modify some of what I have.

I bet a DIN471 will work.
What you have is cheaper to manufacture with less waste.

We called them all "jesus clips".  When it got loose and went flying, that was always the response.
