What do you consider anti trump? I voted for him. I donated to his campaign. I still think he’s a better choice than Hillary or Biden. Also think he completely fucked up throughout 2020 when it mattered most, and that others would be a far, far better choice for 24.

Before Trump, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul together were the preferred/favorite candidate/senator of 87% of GD. Look at how they initially responded to Trump's candidacy. You could check out Paul's speech when he dropped out after Iowa in '16, where he said his focus then was on Trump NOT leading the party.
A lot of the folks that were never big fans of Trump have been here a long time, while a lot of the most vocal Trump supporters have join dates after '15. I don't think that has so much to do with people being dishonest about what they really support as it does with age, experience, and philosophy. It used to be there were a number of competing political philosophies on the right, and we'd argue, but populism isn't philosophical at all, it's just a feedback loop between the demagogue and his audience. I voted for the guy twice, or at least I voted against his opponent twice, and I even supported his candidacy in '16 from the moment it was clear to me his nomination was inevitable, which was right after the SC primary. That said I've never believed he was fit for office, and as time has gone on that's become more certain. Biden's an embarrassment too, but he isn't as personally embarrassing because he isn't the guy representing my political team. |
