When I was a kid (8 - 10), my 1'st generation, raised on a farm Polish grandmother used to live with us.

I was always bringing some kind of critter home... turtles, frogs, baby birds, a baby squirrel.

My mom and grandma were always fine with it until one day I brought home a tiny 5" - 6" DeKay's snake

My mother was cool with it but granny freaked out yelling that I couldn't keep it here, get rid of it, etc.

Her reason... it would escape and would crawl up someones rectum while they were sleeping.

Needless to say I had to let the thing go.

Not really since most lights have magnetic detectors in the ground. What you think is working by the lights, is just the system detecting the car via magnets.

Having just endured a bad case of poison ivy, and finished a Prednisone steroid taper to end it, I can tell you that in the last month I have heard every idiotic "home remedy" under the sun.

The epic, Bubba-ized, dumb-assery of MOST of them is astonishing, and confirms all my previously held beliefs about the epidemic of dumb-assery in America.

Sample: "Scrub your skin with bleach!"

Uhhh, no.  Once urushiol oil has sunk into the pores of your skin, "scrubbing your skin with bleach" is NOT "going to remove it."  Your poor skin has enough problems without causing MORE irritation to it.

Please, just stop.

The more you are censored from discussing something, the more likely it is that you are being lied to about it. I'm certainly no scientist, but when they start threatening to remove doctors' licenses over discussing a drug like this, the more I want to hear what the doctors have to say about the subject.

SAME. Last time I got the flu shot, I got the flu 2 days later and was in the middle of moving.

Later on, I wound up working with a former CDC scientist, they refused to get the flu shot as well. Stated that their best guess of what the prevailing strain that season was usually wrong and explained what the vaccine actually is. (weakened flu bug with formaldehyde).

What is the hippocratic oath? If doctors are pushing bullshit that can actually do harm to their patients, they should be stripped and blocked from being able to practice.

Ha ha- have seen this happen (I was blamed, as I said it usually).  Worst example was roll call, and as soon as I said something about it being a quiet day (x-mas eve) we had a fatal crash call come in. (One drunk driver hit another drunk driver).

But the full moon thing seemed to be total BS, however some things did make it a crazier night: holidays, Fridays/Saturdays, temperatures, school out, etc.  Basically- July-early Sept, when it is hot as hell, on a Friday or Saturday night, it was gonna be crazy and busy, regardless of what the moon was doing…

Someone who had a little knowledge of the opticon system said that most likely.  Basically they are a strobe light set to a certain frequency.  You couldn’t do it by flashing headlights, but if you installed a strobe light, and if you knew the right frequency, it would work, assuming your area had opticon systems installed on the lights.

That if you store magazines loaded it will do more damage to the springs than loading/unloading them periodically so they can "rest".

I got into a small argument with my parents over this one day fixing their lawn mower. Caved and just put it on a piece of newspaper....Yup, thats all they wanted, a couple layers of grocery store ads was what was going to make the difference

My father absolutely convinced my mother it was going to kill the battery otherwise. She freaked out when she went out to the garage and found it on the floor

No amount of truth of today will convince them this isn't 1950, so I play along and put it on the literally 2 sheets of newspaper

A FL specific fudd-lore old wives tale told by Vietnam era Green Beret Navy SEALs at the gun shops.

You can only carry a handgun in your car if there is a three step rule involved. Meaning you have to have it in a thumb-strapped holster, in a zippered case, in the glove box. Anything else is illegal.

I think I’ve seen some studies supporting a correlation between higher crime rates and full moons.

The hypothesis is that full moons disrupt normal circadian rhythms and melatonin production. Full moons can also affect women’s ovulation cycles.
