Buy a top of the line barrel and put together a precision rifle.
The only thing better than shooting a zombie is shooting a zombie a few hundred yards away. |

Quoted: You know damn well you need to ask @Beamy View Quote You rang OP start with a basic A4 and go from there You'll note rather quickly that they shoot very differently than a carbine.....softer and they return to target very quickly I own a A4 clone with a TA31F and M5 RAS but she's heavy... though that ACOG makes shooting super easy My SP1 is fun but she's almost too light and TBH the A1 handguards are more neat looking than comfortable The basic A4 with A2 handguards is a goldilocks...not too heavy yet not too light... they're the perfect range day tag along Attached File |

It's hard to choose between the A1 and the A2 because they both have a specific nostalgia to them... I'd say get both. However, if you are only going to have one 20" rifle in your collection then I'd just combine the best features of both together.
It's hard to find Colt CS stocks though and they're expensive when you do. Other than that, I'd just go with a Colt A4. |

View Quote Peak aesthetic. It's absolutely beautiful. The tasteful thickness of it all. |

Quoted: Was buying parts recently and accidentally bought a rifle spring vs carbine... So you know what that means. View Quote Your best bet for an a2 rifle is to get on the email list for delton and their a2 uppers. I've built a rifle off it and it's good as gold. |

View Quote That’s peak clone but I prefer retro abominations. My favorites are a pencil barrel with triangle hand guards, C7 upper w teardrop FA, A1E stock, A2 grip, tritium sights, whatever lower is fun at the time and a flat trigger. Also lightweight parts and restricted gas plug in FSB. The look reminds me of a stinging insect and the light weight and ergos make it feel great aside from the rear sling mount. I need to try the SF paracord/duct tape relocation to upstairs on mine. |

Can’t believe the Canadians got it as close as they did. |

This is as far as I got. Had the Acog, but sold it before I had the rifle Used a Steiner M536 I had on hand. Just never got around to changing the grip and trigger guard for something clone correct.

M16A4 gets my vote. I have a Bushmaster that I’d clone into Haley’s Najaf rifle if I ever come across the correct ARMS rail. And the SAM-R is cool but expensive and more and more difficult to find the correct parts. A2 is kind of bland. A1 is certainly iconic, but the M16A4 retains the lineage and adds modern functionality.
