what do you do with it? You thank the Sergeant Major and then toss it on the shelf with the rest of them...about it............

It's what you get when you wake up the general by firing a .50cal M2 warning shot over the head of some MP's that were somewhere they should not be.

I dont keep mine at the office, too few people have them in my building that I'm afraid they'd disappear, so they sit on my kitchen island (we're GS, so coins arent as easy to come by as for the active duty folks).

But I did tap a 4-star's coin when a few SOF guys challenged each other at the hotel bar we were staying at (we'd shared the bar a few times that week so they knew who I worked for).  I'd just recieved it that day, thus I had it on me. They threw me a pile of drink tickets they werent going to use as the highest they had was the CG of SOCOM's (2-star, but could be argued to be better than mine due to SOCOM vs AMC).

Play drinking games. If you're out with mil buddies and they start pulling them out, you owe everyone a drink if you don't have yours.

Or you play the stupid "who has the better/more prestigious coin" nonsense.

+1

If a challenge coin is a coin that is given for some achievement, and if someone else has the same coin and "challenges" you, you have to present the coin, if you don't have it, you owe them a beer or some kind of drink.

The only challenge coins I have that are worth a damn to me personally are the ones I feel like I legitimately earned.

The best challenge coin I got while in, wasn't a coin at all.   Platoon Commander gave us all a single link of a chain and told us that we were all part of the same chain, and that no matter how strong any single "link" was, the weakest "link" could break the chain.  Lt. "Tackleberry" was a kick ass officer!
