So I own a Gerrard Perregaux mechanical watch, which has lived in my safe for about seven years (yes a different type of safe queen). I had it in my hand today and was tempted to wind it up but thought twice and put it back.
After so many years without any movement would it be detrimental to the mechanism if I had wound it? I guess if the answer is yes, I should have it serviced and then only if I am going to be using it. Opinions welcomed. Thanks |

I would get it serviced if it was my watch. I an under the option that autos need servicing ever 7 - 10_year Depending on how much it is warn. For an analogy. The way I look at it. Would go out and jump in car, and drive it short road trip after it has been sitting for 7_years? No you would get it serviced, and checked first. Cars, and jewelry, and watches are thing we wear every day and use. You get your car serviced regularly. Why would your watches be any different. But cool watches, you should post a picture of it! |
