realstarlord@the_jordan_winkler He was hitting his cardboard target until he wasn't hitting his cardboard target. Don't you think it leaves an extremely minimal room for error when training? Training is where you're okay to make mistakes and correct them. Shooting someone isn't supposed to be on that roster nor can it be taken back.

cromconsultantsIt's an extreme reach to justify this, the margin of error on a mistake is just too small, if someone had taken two minutes to sweep up a few of those shotgun shells it wouldn't be that big of a deal, dude probably could have run himself through the drill.

cromconsultantsThere's a chance in real life that I might have to shoot within inches on my wife or someone else's head, so by some of you guys reasoning I should practice shooting next to her head to replicate real life..... first risk mitigation isn't a bad thing, can people get a bit stupid and stringent with it? Yeah they can, but it's also not a big deal to say, hey this wheelchair is pretty uncontrollable on this terrain, that's modify the drill slightly so we don't accidentally put a bullet in someone's back. Next making training realistic is great but it's still going to be shooting cardboard or steel, and it's ok to accept that reality, on both sides of the argument saying "in real life" is unnecessary, your practicing skills on a range in a controlled environment, your not choreographing your next fight.
cromconsultantsShooting in close proximity to other people, with dudes in front or around you is something that is worth doing and should be done by serious shooters, the issue here is that the margin of error on having one guy shoot while another dude pushes his wheelchair over shotgun shells is too small, this could have easily ended badly, that's not safety sally mentality it's understanding risk vs reward.
