What was the ATF created for?
What does the ATF do in modern society? Please do not turn this into an anti-ATF thread, or post obnoxious BS. |
| After prohibition was repealed we had a bunch of federal agents sitting around with their thumbs in their rectums without a mission. Basically the ATF resulted for all these agents to to have something to do which was to ensure compliance with taxes and regulations. |

Scares me to death, but then again I guarantee you that I could go over to their house, pick some stuff out from under their sink, garage, basement, car, etc. that could be made to manufacture chemical and explosive weapons and put the "terrorist owners" into gitmo for a while. Fucking ATF JBT's. I have yet to hear one good fucking thing they've EVER done.....show me if I'm wrong.

They deal with the regulation/licensing of booze/tobacco/guns/explosives production... They provide expert/advanced investigation support for arson & bombing cases... They administer the FFL system. And of course, they enforce the few federal gun laws currently on the books - which essentially boils down to the NFA, and the aforementioned FFL system. |

ive seen first hand similar things as what he describes.
but a lot of the atf hate is misplaced, as ive seen them up close too and they are a great deal more reasonable than you would think
