I'm cleaning the mess I call my toolbox and I found this thing.  I have no idea what it does.  Squeezing the handles together opens the jaws and turning the T-handle extends the bit inside.  It appears to be for piercing something.

What happened with the other "what's this tool" thread?

The tool had two smaller pulleys and one larger, notched/toothed pulley that could be adjusted in distance relative to the smaller pulleys.

I never did hear what it was, if anyone figured it out or knew.

It was a device that put the alternating bends on saw blade teeth.  These bends allow a wider cut than the blade is thick.

My chain breaker looks quite a bit different than this one, if it's truly what it is...

Really? Was that confirmed in anyway.

I have saw sets. (Set is what it's called when the teeth are bent to each side. A saw won't work without having the teeth cut the kerf wider than the saw) but I've never seen one like that.

I guess that makes as much sense as any thing I could come up with. Must be for a band saw blade or some such that has a consistent width. That wheel would only be good for one TPI, too. Probably other wheels available.

Upon thinking back to exactly what the wheel looked like, I see it now. Alternating wedges to force the set in the teeth.

Thanks.

Confirmed, the OP found (or someone sent him) a link to a collector type page that had his in with a group of others with the same purpose.
