| I find it odd that we as a society can collectively bury our heads in the proverbial sand until the issues we face are unavoidable instead of working at them while they are still manageable. Why do we do this? |
|
Because you can't agree on what those problematic issues are. Some say the national debt is the biggest problem you have, while others scream and shout about gay marriage ruining civilization. Some cry foul of the military industrial complex, others say socialized health-care will end everything. How could you fix any problem when you can't choose where to start?

my honest opinion of what is wrong with the U.S. Television. Our children are growing up watching looser and looser values being portrayed in a manner that glorifies everything that I personally feel is wrong. the programming on tv has progressivly become more and more raunchy, violent, and materialistic. disney, mtv, spike, etc. They are fairly bad influences on our children. Who in 10 years will have looser values than the current group of people in their 20's and 30's. I have a television in my household, but I get a whopping 4 channels. PbS, trinity (blocked), fox, and abc. I make a point to not watch it as a family. |
I don't think this is really any different than it has always been. The founding fathers waited until British soldiers were marching to Concord to seize their powder and ball before they got off the dime and did something (sure the Tea party as a protest, but that was just some rabble rouses, not the masses). It is the way the free market, and free system works, the attention goes to the problem. Therefore, the problem must get to the point that it is critical before getting attention. Out politicians, should champion (inform, educate, and gather) a cause that they see coming, as they have the advance intel and are in a position of doing so. They will not as they care only from their own power, not the country. |
She like umm...needs to just like....shut up and ....bend the over... |
Hell, even when there is some consensus and you start to move in the same direction, it's immediately challenged by some fucking minority group and gets tied up in the courts. We ought to deport 1/2 the friggin lawyers along with the illegal insurgents. Rampant litigation is one of the reasons this country is so farked up. Too many unibrow clients for the highbrow lawyers. |
I'd still hit that! |
