Nice.... They sure are a nice revolver.  Unfortunately I got mine after it got modified by some shooter in the past.  The barrel was shortened at the breech and the stocks were swapped out with gutta percha Colt stocks.  No matter, I wanted a shooter and the rig still shoots wonderfully.

Really nice rifles guys.

I was  the super down at Science Park in New Haven back in 05. Part of my responsibility was keeping druggies and stray dog packs out of the old Winchester factory buildings that had been abandoned. It was about a block, all gated in.

I was walking around the basements and found a 95 leaning in a corner. I was untill I picked it up and what I thought was a nice example was actually rusted and rotted through and fell apart in my hands

I was pissed

eta, i did get a stray husky pup out of the gig. I gave it to a girlfriend. Wish I kept him. He was a mutt and got to be 150lbs but looked all husky. His parents were local strays that i  ran off a lot.

That one is really nice, probably 95% or so.  It shoots great also, hard to believe it's almost 100 years old.

Shiloh Sharps Number #1 Long Range Express in .45-70 Gov't.

Hartford collar, pewter foretip, 30" heavy octagonal barrel, fire-blued screws, AAA wood, Vernier tang sight.

Ordered it in 1991 and it arrived in 1996.

Took it to the NRA Whittington Center in September and rang the buffalo at 1123 yards with open sights.

The buffalo is the little white spot on the hillside  - where the arrow is pointing...

I love my Shiloh Sharps.

I do some cowboy action shooting. My match pistols are a pair of Ruger Bisley Vaqueros in .45 Colt with 5-1/2" barrels. One is stainless and the other is blued:

For just hiking around, I have a 4-5/8" stainless Ruger Vaquero in .44 special that came from Lipsey's. It is one of 500 they had made for them by Ruger:

My match rifle is an 1860 Iron Frame (All steel) Henry in .45 Colt made by Uberti:

For our long range match (400 yard Buffalo), I use a Uberti copy of the Browning High Wall in .45-70:

M1866 Remington Rolling Block in .58 US Musket (or .58 Berdan Centerfire).

Thousands of M1863 Springfields MLs were converted by Remington (some by Springfield) to .58 US Musket or re-lined to .50-70 and marketed to state militias after the CW.

They did not sell all that well so they were sold to civilians and they contributed greatly to western expansion in the years after the civil war.

There was even a adaptor (I'd love to find one) sold for the .58s that took a top-hat cap so it could be loaded from the muzzle in the manner of a modern ML as cartridges were expensive. LOL...What is old is new again.

They made an "Iron Frame" Henry, but it is my understanding they are pretty rare.

My Uberti copy has a blued steel frame, but I have also seen them with a color case hardened finish as well....

My choice as well for a shooter.  The 51 Navy has the perfect grip and points better than any other revolver for me with the added modern cartridge of the conversion.  Plus aesthetically, its very pleasing to the eye.

Beautiful rifle!

The Whittington Center, one of my favorite places on earth!  I spend the majority of my summer there instructing.

Yes, the white buffalo is a frequent target. The first time I shot at it with my AK it was a second round hit!  That was with my belly in the dirt and slung up. It's really not too hard of a target to hit when you think about it, what is it? Somewhere around a 5x9 MOA target? Distance is fun once you know your hold and the wind.  The challenge is to hit the 1.5 MOA disk in the vital area. Has a complete different sound to it. No, I wasn't able to hit that with the AK!

Have you ever been to any of the back country ranges?  They are cool!

If you're ever there in the summer ( end of May, beginning of June to the middle of July) I'm over in the founders cabins with the red Jeep Rubicon with Pa plates. Stop in, introduce yourself! I'd love to check out the rifle!  That thing is a work of art!
