I've noticed lately that my Thinkpad's screen seems really dim.  What is weird is that the problem seems to sort of come and go.  And 'dim' doesn't exactly describe it, it's more like 'subdued'.  And the little white mouse pointer is still nice and bright.  And when I restart my computer, the initial windows screen is nice and bright.  How odd is that?  Any ideas what could be causing this??

When it looks dim, try holding down the function key (Fn?) and pressing the up arrow to increase the LCD brightness. If that doesn't help, I don't know.

Also check your power management settings in your OS.  Depending on whether you're running off AC or battery, it could be a power savings feature.

Does it have an ambient light sensor?   If so disable it.

Mine has the same exact issue.  There is nothing I've found to fix this.  I have a T60, by the way.
