I am going to paint a set of steel wheels for my truck.
There are several paint choices out there. PlastiKote, Dupli-color, Rust-Oleum, etc. For those that have painted steel wheels, which paint held up the best/which paint would you recommend? |

I painted the steel wheels on my Subaru with flat black rustoleum spray paint from Home Depot. I just sanded off the rust spots with some sand paper and scuffed the wheels with a scorthbrite pad. I sprayed two layers and they still look good 8 months later. I bought two cans and only needed one for four wheels. I figure for the four dollars, I can can spray it once a year if it gets ratty looking.
I have also used platidip on my winter BMW wheels. If I had to do it again, I would have just used the rustoleum. It was cheaper and I needed less cans. |
