I’m 47 and pretty much only wear Vans.

Never.  Plain Vans are some of the most basic shoes ever made.  They're basically just deck shoes that men have worn for many decades.

There's a guy here on the beach that skateboards everywhere, has mid back length hair and only wears board shorts and Vans. He's got to be in his 60's.

You should check out Vans extreme stance on BLM before you consider buying their product.

I had the fake Payless Shoe Source knock offs.

You think you were poor ?
My mom took me and my brother school clothes shopping at goodwill about 1984.
I was in 5th grade my bro in 4th. We spotted a pair of pink and purple checkered vans in the shoe isle. We about cake to blows over them. They were a few sizes too big for either one of us.

I hated growing up poor back then but damn if it wasn’t a great motivator for both of us.

Some of you have a point, skate shoes used to all be pretty wide. But they're definitely almost all narrow as hell now.

Fuck her. It's time for you to get a new pair of checkerboard slip ons.

Get to it.

If talking slip on yes you are way too old. If talking lace up then depends on the pair and what kind of shape you are in.

Never too old...I'd rather wear a pair of Vans than white New Balance walkers with velcro like some old people.

I was alive when vans were born.

That means I can wear vans no matter how old I am.

Never. I'm 42 and even though I prefer Converse All-Stars, if I found a pair of Vans that I liked I'd wear them.

My Chucks make great gym shoes after they're too worn out to be town shoes any more.

My first pair of skate shoes were One Stars. Ah, nostalgia...

I'm 54 and I still skate.  Every time I buy a pair of Vans high tops I think, "This is probably the very last pair I will ever  have to buy".
I never wear them to do anything else but skate. Their insoles suck for walking.

I do see them everywhere now.  Every young Mom at the store has them on

I mail ordered my first birdwell surf trunks out of the back of Surfer magazine in the early 80s. I've got a 15 year old pair in my dresser right now.
