I was looking around for a pair of boots and thought that I would check out Timberland. It seems to be that they are favored by the young black urban crowd now. Has that been a recent development? Needless to say I will probably be looking at some other boots.

Known fad for the past 10-15 years, Timberland is trash and overpriced anyways.

you would not consider timberland, a pricey yet comfortable boot, because young urban black men wear them?

Thats like not buying a gun because gangbangers use them.

There is a famous Hip-Hop producer who uses the name "Timbaland."  What does that tell you?

Remember LL Cool J and his Pumas?  Or Run-DMC and their Addidas?  Fila?  This is nothing new.

I've seen Timberland boots fall apart way too fast for my liking.  Merrell is tha shizznit... or something like that.

I wore a lot of Timberland shoes in the early 90's when they were still made in the US. The quality was great. I still have a couple of old pairs. But in the mid 90's they moved production to China, and from that point on they have been no better than the crappy Chinese stuff you see at Wally World. It's a shame.

Yup. Being in a boat area, I used to buy Sperry or Timberland. Now both have moved offshore, and their quality went to hell.

Glock, Sig, etc. etc.  Bangers will use whatever is available.  .380's seem to be popular around here with the bangers.  don't know why other than they are readily available and cheap.

I'm gonna bow out of this now.

Timberland moved to China? That really sucks. I once had a pair of Timberland boots that lasted at least 3 or 4 years of hard use. I guess that's a thing of the past

Ghetto folks often times materially emulate the upper-middle-class: Honda Accords, Glock pistols, Gor-Tex Parkas, and Cadillac Escalades have all been fads in those communities.

During my teenage years I was rockin the skinhead look with the bomber jacket.  I've since ditched the skinhead look, but kept the bomber jacket and oddly enough bomber jackets have become the latest ghetto fashion around here.

Timberland moved production to China?

A long time ago. One day I went to buy a new pair and noticed the price was $40 lower and the tag went from saying "Made in USA" to "Made in China." I also noticed the stiching was uneven and the inner was not the usual leather they used to always use. Bought them anyway and in one year I thew them away.

Rockport went the same way. Was made in the US and are now made in China.
