I was REALLY hoping for him to be tapped for SOS but it looks like Rudy is the front runner for the job. Haven't seen anything from Newt much since the election.

Quoted: That's a shame. His experience and knowledge of government matters and history would be invaluable as a SOS? Quoted: Quoted: He was on Fox last night. Seemed to be saying he would rather be a behind the scenes advisor vice actual cabinet position. That's a shame. His experience and knowledge of government matters and history would be invaluable as a SOS? He'll make a good Man Behind the Curtain. |

Another way to look at things is Newt, Rudy and a lot of the other names being tossed around are guys who are getting old. Use them behind the scenes to school the new generation who will be able to work in government and lead the nation for two or three decades.
Relying on the same old guys and not mentoring new blood in the jobs will leave us in the same condition as the Democrats are finding themselves in; old guys still in office in their 80s and nobody being taught to be able to take their places when they die. |

WTF ![]() My point is, he must not remember the Newt that led the Republican Revolution that ended a 4 decade long Dem control of the House, got a massive capital gains tax cut passed, the Taxpayer Relief Act, was instrumental in balancing the Fed budget (which Clinton got credit for) and lead the impeachment against Bill Clinton. But, yeah, he's a GOP shill and "a problem".

A behind the scenes guy sure, advising from a far but not part of the actual cabinet. Newt has a loooooooooooooooooot of baggage. |
