9 inch is okay.

Why do you like rust so much?

And fewer gears?

What issues has the 10r had beyond the problem the early ones had with the bad bearing?

Depends on how they're setup.  This was my driveway last weekend.
We had 2 different 73 mach1s and the 69 mustang out ripping around.  They all drive different.  You could get them with a nice relaxing 302/351 and a 2.75 rear end and just cruise around.  Or you can slap in a set of gears, shift kit, and tune the carb and it'll have you grinning from ear to ear the whole time you're driving.

the 71-73 mustang does handle better than the 70 and earlier ones.  Ferd changed the steering to a steering gear rather than a control valve setup.  And they moved the upper control arms down, which is basically the "shelby drop" modification that people do to the old ones.  And mach1 came with the staggered rear shocks.  On my rusty 73, I have the total control front suspension package which is coilovers and heim joints all over the place, with a new redhead quick ratio steering gear.

Street Or Track has a front drop spindle that combined with their parts can get 315s tucked under the front fenders of 69/70 cars...

I have their full suspension on my 66 and it will corner as well or better than my 2015 GT Perf Pack.   Working towards getting the spindles to hopefully fit 275s up front eventually after full chassis bracing.

Hard to drive it that hard because I have shitty seats and lap belts.

Here's hoping I guess.

I had them service mine at 30k miles because it has a trailer behind it almost daily.

No issues so far, and it does make for some nice driving.

When I was a junior in high school I had the chance to buy a running, driving '65 Galaxie 500 with a 390 for $1,500. I should have bought it. It belonged to my ag teacher and he drove it to school occasionally.

It looked like this one, but original paint.

@midcap
Another one followed my home today.  This one is mostly stock configuration still under the hood.  50yr old 351C, from 1973 when they were starting to really get choked out by EPA requirements.  It currently drives way closer to "mild" than "wild".  I intend to fix that.

I'd love another '65 or '66 XL, with a 427. Someday…

In '73 my brother traded his fastback 1968 Galaxy 500XL and his fiance's paid for car for a '73 Vega GT and a new car loan.
Less than a year later they came home with a radiator full of beer because it overheated and they didn't have access to water where they stopped.

Like most Vegas, it was fine until it overheated that one time, and then burned oil like crazy.
A couple of years later his mother in law convinced his wife that it was OK to go on a 200 mile shopping trip without oil in it.
Too bad he didn't still have that beautiful Galaxy and she didn't still have her own beater.
