Considering purchasing either the Pleagos 42 in blue or the FXD in blue. Really torn between the options. I like the thinner case and the shade of blue on the FXD more, but also wish there was an option for a bracelet so it could be used for more formal occasions . This would probably be the most expensive watch I would ever own, so I want to get it right. I feel like most of the time I would be perfectly happy with the FXD, but think I would regret a little bit spending that much and not having an option for a bracelet to dress it up a bit. Any advice or suggestions to help make the decision? |
| I’d go with the Pelagos 42. I use a date complication and don’t like wearing a watch without one. Also, I’d get really tired of being stuck with Natos on the FXD. |

| Both are hardcore tool watches and are on the larger size. Both of those characteristics go against the dress/nicer watch vibe. A Black Bay 41 in your favorite color could play more roles than the Pelagos. Buy which ever Pelagos you like best and get a Seiko dress watch for a few hundred bucks to wear as needed. |

Had the FXD, traded it for a Sinn U1 DS and cash. Don’t miss the FXD in the least. At first I liked the idea of fixed lugs… but no matter what strap I tried I was never happy with how it sat on my wrist. Not being able to add a bracelet or nice strap killed it for me. If I were to buy another Tudor it would be a Black Bay GMT or the Black Bay Panda Chrono - which to me is pure sex. |

I have the FXD and wear it more than any other watch. Light, comfortable, super legible, great lume. I also have the Pelagos 39, but it's a bit smaller than I prefer, so I'll eventually sell it. I should have gone with the larger Pelagos or even the Ultra. But, the FXD is not a dress watch in the least. If you need that versatility, the Pelagos or a BB58 would be the better choice:

If it’s your one-and-done watch, get the 42 for the extra versatility. Heck, you can even put a jubilee style bracelet on it. Uncle Straps |

For me I need to know what day of the week it is But 100% agree with you on ever thing you said about the FDX Color & size !!! I had a Black Bay, blue bezel, black dial. One of the best looking watches I have ever owned, loved it!! But end up ultimately selling it, because it did Not have the day of the week Also, I would connect the a good Grey Market dealer you area. Most will be able to save you afew % off a new one Or might be able to get you a slightly used & save afew more $$$ |

I go through phases where I dream about watches I cant afford. I've given it some thought, and if money were no object, I'd buy a BB54 as my everyday watch, and a blue pelagos fxd as my outdoors activity beater watch. If i wanted a blue watch to do everything, I'd get a BB58. Looks classic, with a more muted blue like the fxd and no date. If I want the date, I'll check my phone.

Thanks for all the input. Now I am more conflicted between the pelagos and the BB58. I like the thickness of the BB and the more subtle blue, but I like the titanium case and the look of the band and hour markers more of the pelagos. How do the movements compare between those 2 |
