I am going to get a PDW and have been thinking and thinking over what to get with no answer. I have FAL's ,AR's ,AK's and a MAC mini all of which use different ammo and mags.
I want a Bellator arms 89k most of any guns I am looking at and the 1100$ range is all I am going to spend. I would again need a new mag collection for a different gun but it would at least be 9mm that I use anyway. I would also like a uzi but the same issue with new mags comes up. I started thinking about a sig 556 pistol since it uses ar mags or a Rock river arms pistol for the same reason but I have wanted a MP5k for a long time and the Bellator arms version is the first time I have seen one I would consider reasonably priced for me. I would also like a C93 pistol for 650$ but I don't know when they will ever be available and again it would be new mags and not what I actually want ,but cheaper? |

That looks like a blast to shoot. |

Do they need the buffer tube to operate? |

That looks like a blast to shoot. It's a lot of fun. Pretty much no recoil at all - so you can rip off a 50-round magazine in no time, with a very tight grouping. Quoted:
... Do they need the buffer tube to operate? Yes - it uses a slightly heavier buffer, so you do have to swap that out when you swap uppers. |

Sure, but since he specified PDW, I figured that the 5.7x28mm in a 50-round magazine, might be even more appropriate, since that's what the round was intended for. Both are fine choices. |

does that AR57 upper fit on an unmodified AR15 lower? How's reliability? |

If that round wasn't so finicky to reload, I'd go with it. Just so I could use a 5.56 mag with the spring and follower removed as a brass catcher
But alas, 5.7x28 is a bit tricky to reload, and it's a bottlenecked case which makes it a raging PITA. If someone made a top load, bottom eject 9mm I'd be all over it. |

Fuck anything that uses a proprietary cartridge.
A 7.5-8.5" barrel AR with a PWS CQB on the muzzle is about the same length as a P90, similar weight, and fires a heavier bullet faster. Muzzle blast and flash are acceptable with the PWS. Shares a majority of parts with regular ARs and can use the same mags/ammo. With Barnes TSX bullets you'll get great expansion past 50 yards, so terminal performance can be far better than the P90 with SS190/SS197/SS198. Likewise a shorty AK shares mags and parts, has better flight and terminal ballistics, can be about the size of an MP7 if you have an underfolder, and kicks serious ass. Proprietary cartridges are unneeded for the PDW role. TR85. |

Magpul PDW-R or PDR which ever name they are going with. http://www.imfdb.org/w/images/c/c1/MagpulPDR.jpg 5.56 20 or 30rd pmags, P90 feel. Glorious. Although I don't think it is for sale yet... This would be the best but I don't think they're ever going to produce it. |

They don't even have a working prototype yet. IIRC in their industry forum, they said they tried to market it to the military and they weren't interested. |
