Or starting one!  Decided to finish college degree and quit working for lousy pay and ungrateful assholes.  I dropped out of college at the end of my sophomore year.  I majored in Applied Physics.  Contemplating a change of majors to electrical or mechanical engineering or something totally different, English.  I see tons of job listings for engineers of al sorts for pretty reputable companies.  So back to school I go starting this summer.  Need some advice for a career track to pursue.  Not looking to get rich but want to make a good living with security.  Basicall honest wages for honest work.  What say you?

You will never get rich being a 911 dispatcher, I can tell you that. Or any public servant, for that matter.

Sorry.

I'm in a similar boat. I'm 32, and finally going to school full time to learn something new. The pay wasn't bad at my last job, but I was pretty much topped out for the industry. the pricks I worked for showed their true colors too often, too. I'm hoping to find a job where I can have a future and feel appreciated.

Well..first I would say...don't be a lawyer.

Unless you want to be a teacher or military officer...avoid the English degree.

If you want true job security...get a nursing degree.  If you want relative job security...get a healthcare administration degree.

Other than that...I can't say much.  I got a degree in Chemistry.  I'm never ever ever gonna be a professional chemist.  The only reason I went to college is because the job I wanted required the degree as a prerequisite.
