I drank the last three shots of the Bulleit I been working on since the first time it kicked my ass.  Finally finished it.  Washing it down with cold Budwiser, in the bottle.

Good luck with that bottle.

A good bottle of Talisker single malt.  Or if you really want some kick, get some cask strength single malt...it comes up to about 150 proof....I used to like the stuff that came in around 100-130 proof...a little goes a damned long way.

EC 12 is one of the best bourbons you can find for the price.  I'd also say check out the 4 Roses Small Batch and/or Single Barrel.

These are my latest purchases. The PVW 20 is the 2nd bottle I've managed to sneak up on

I'd highly recommend both the Van Winkle Lot B and the Willett Rye. Both are in the $50 if you can find them and are fantastic whiskeys.

Fighting Cock!!! Good Lord, they still make that stuff??? LMAO

When I was in HS and underage all we ever bought was Fighting Cock because it was so cheap. Bad imitation of Wild Turkey, but still 101 proof. Hit the 7-11, fill a Big Gulp halfway with coke then alllll the way to the top with FC.

Good times!

I haven't seen it in a liquor store for many many years.

Breckenridge distillery. Their normal Special Release Bourbon is outstanding, it has won a number of awards and is like $40/bottle.  They are supposed to release single barrel in the next few months. I am anxious about single barell to be released, price point is expected to be in the neighborhood of $100/bottle for the single barrel.

A year or so ago they distributed to like 2 states and were relatively unheard of, they grow and grow' have won some respectible awards and there is a reason.  They make a good bourbon, it is probably good I don'tlive in CO otherwise I would have a second hime near their distillery.  They make a decent vodka and just came out with a bitters, but by and large bourbon is their buisness.

Blanton's is nice too, more well known for sure, has a strong history  nice carmel color and warm hints.  Today given the choice though I would take the Breckenridge.

It would have to taste like glass to drink it without ice.

I generally do not prefer bruising my whiskey, but to each their own I guess.

IMO...if you're going to bruise your liquor, a little ice goes a long way.  To much ice and it just dilutes an otherwise truly great piece of artful craftsmanship.

Derp.

Feel free to explain exactly how bourbon gets "bruised" when it's poured over an ice cube.

Barton Brands Distillery, owned by Sazerac (the same folks that own Buffalo Trace), has produced 1792 Ridgemont Reserve Bourbon for almost a decade or so now. This bourbon is called "barrel select”, which essentially means it is a small batch bourbon. The master distiller selects barrels that he deems "ready” for batching together with other barrels and then bottles these "batches” separately. The minimum age of each barrel in 1792 (the year KY became the 15th state) is 8 years. That’s a fair bit of age, and what some believe to be a real sweet spot for most bourbons. Of course that’s extremely subjective.
