My Gen Z kids have them new, although theme parks were phasing them out. I have one from when I was a kid, GAF brand. Also have the one my brother had, Sawyer brand.

One of the ‘retro’ decorations that the local Red Robin restaurant has is a 4’ diameter facsimiles of a view master reel.

Reels still available on Amazon, but not cheap.

I know someone that works for GAF. Manufactures building materials now.
And yes we had one.

I had a pair of those too, right around when they first became a fad/craze.

And as I recall, the first version shattered and caused some injuries.  Somewhere today there's probably someone walking around who is blind because they got "Click Clack Shrapnel" in their eyes as a kid ().

This resulted in a CPSC product recall.

I just searched, and apparently they still sell them - although not the same material as those early ones that could shatter.

Before we had the Internet, or console gaming platforms, or in many cases even VHS tapes or (for a lot of us) cable TV, as kids we had...

...VIEW MASTER!

3D Stereoscopic Image Viewers!

And of course, we had MANY EXCITING TOPICS to choose from, among the available View Master subject reels!

Wait - what's that smell?

It smells like "BOOMER" in here!

I still have mine, somewhere, and I believe that's the only disc I have left.

Hell yes. The box that the air blaster came in had a picture of a gorillas face on the box that you could shoot with the air blast. It was pretty cool.

A View Master was one of the gifts I received for my TV appearances with Art Linkletter/George Fenneman (ca 1957-1958). I took it with me on our Mom's cross country tour of the USA.

YES!  Greatest toy I ever had.  I learned weights and balances and center of gravity without even knowing it, lifting various Lego structures and stolen Barbie accessories.  My sister never did figure out where they went.

No telling how many hours I laid on the floor and flew that thing.  I was too young for Viet Nam, but I bet I could have been an OH6 pilot in a heartbeat!  lol

The Talking View Master was pretty damn AWESOME for a 1970's kid.

I vividly recall loving the talking Star Trek sets, among other things

Had one. Guess it depended on what disc you had for it. I didn't think it was a big deal.

I loved my Viewmaster, we had two or three always within reach.

Anyone remember this?  We still have one upstairs.  What is neat is that it comes with spare bulbs taped to the inside.

I have an old View-Master in my curio cabinet that belonged to my grandparents, this one is dark brown bakelite. I had an ivory colored one when I was a kid and had a lot of disks for it. I don't know what happened to that one, maybe my younger sister has it or had it.

I do… and my aunt worked at the View Master factory in Beaverton Oregon (1970’s).

We got tons of seconds!
