Well, that’s certainly an odd mix. View Quote Eternity is a very odd and disquieting show, quite honestly I’m invested in it now, and regardless of how it goes I’m in for the duration. As RCaerbannog240 has mentioned, I can see where some of the story arc is headed as the MC if you really want to call it that, progresses through its existence. |

Apropos of nothing…
I’ve been “doing it wrong.” Conventional wisdom has generally advised against trying to learn Japanese conversation by watching and listening to anime. It doesn’t mean that there’s no value to trying to do so, but you do need to exercise a bit of caution. Sure, I typically “get it” when a character’s speech patterns have intentionally been made to sound uneducated or rough or vulgar, or too familiar for use in polite conversations with co-workers or supervisors, or employ teen-delinquent-style slang (yabai!), or when the voice actor is using certain regional dialects to make it sound like they’re unsophisticated bumpkins, and so I know enough not to try and emulate such speech, just as I can typically detect the use of very formal, ultra-polite ‘keigo’ (even though I don’t know enough of it to actually speak it). But it took me by surprise when I just came to realize that the word “umai”, which I’ve been using to indicate that a food item tastes good (just like they often do in anime scripts) may also be considered to be in the same class of words that I should probably avoid - umai means “good”, but that’s not really the same thing as “delicious” - while “oishii” more properly means “delicious” and is probably the better word to use in that context. So, I’ve been “doing it wrong.” That is all - I now return this channel to its regularly-scheduled food fight. Yabai! |

View Quote Naw, it’s the same with every language, most of it is based off of a life of speaking it. From slang to regional dialect, it varies. Heck, a good example is the word boot. In American English it’s a type of footwear, in the British language it’s the trunk of a vehicle. In Spanish, panocha in the correct usage is a type of brown sugar candy or type of bread made with it, in the slang it’s a female’s private parts. Guess which gets used more? Attached File |

Ok, I started watching anime back in the 90's. Do they still make stuff like Tenchi or Love Hina? I watched and loves all Tenchi except In Tokyo, could not get past Eps 1 or 2 of that.

Of course the Leftist response will be, "whatever peasent. These infringements aren't unconstitutional. Pick up that can..."

Someone needs to make a Jormundgand spinoff where some james bond types are trying to stop a supervillain and the villain turns out to be Koko.

Six episodes in, Hinamatsuri is pretty good. The MC is kind of a shit, but he at least has a conscience. Lots of feels are similar to Higehiro (because of course, same basic genre I didn't know was a thing) but less intense subject matter.

I've made my case for this, and I will never back down from this position. |

The other night I re-watched Ninja Scroll for like the hundredth time and I got to thinking, what's a good anime similar to it? Movie or series.
The movie was a masterpiece, but to me the series was a huge let down. So what do you guys recommend? Preferably of similar artistic scenes with a good story. Also Mushizo fight scene is best fight scene. Attached File |

Just being able to punch her through concrete walls would not be enough to get her excited. In the Arifuretta after stories Tio actually gets power-ups in battle when her master smacks her around. |
