Not even close to the biggest on arfcom, but the biggest for me.

About 100,000 lbs empty, max takeoff about 205,000.

Looked up a 747 max takeoff weight (not your bird, obviously), just shy of 1 million pounds. Jimminy Christ.

Does it take more tenure or experience to fly one of those commercially?

My humble contribution. About 75k lbs. with 3300 gallons of water and 500 gallons of foam.

depends on what part you mean. sd-90's are pretty big. 6000 hp each, 415000 pounds each. i've run coal and potash trains regularly, over 21,000 tons,  that are well over a mile and a half ;long.

http://trn.trains.com/~/media/images/railroad-news/news-wire/2015/03/tnmr111.jpg

piggybacks/double-stacks while much longer, are also much lighter. a dozen sd-40's and 45's, dp'ed for use on a single coal train, is a pretty epic adventure.

i prefer tonnage to speed myself. just getting it done is a much more satisfying time, than getting there the fastest.

When I was working as an engineer last year. The largest train I ran was over 26,000 tons and around 10,000 feet

Basically it takes getting hired by an airline that flies them, and getting enough seniority to bid on to them.

I dont drive these every day but i do work on them, have rebuild most and work on just about every piece of Cat equipment.

We get a bunch of D11Rs but normally work on D8R

The largest wheel loader i have driven is a 992 but again we normally see 988Gs.
Here is a 988F i did a complete rebuild on.

I have worked on and operated 385C excavators, 777 haul trucks and all kinds of fun equipment.

Military 966 loader returning to the US after a hard life overseas.

Military dozers (DEUCE) were fun to drive but a pita to work on.

The most challenging to drive is a scraper. Due to its size, articulation steering, two engines and transmissions and its blind spots. It would be fun out in a field but at the shop its difficult and tricky. Getting it into 8th gear takes some room.

Do we have any mega crane operators here? These things blow my mind

We have a 900 ton Liebherr mobile crane, but I want nothing to do with it.

I drive these now.

Sweet, we earned a spot on a "crazy big assed machines" list!

I know it's a click bait site, but I was just following a link off of Yahoo, and said, I wonder if I'm on there?

We are on number 7 on the list.

Right now I just drive small forklifts. Somehow at this big box warehouse store we have ended up with 6 forklifts(2 small(5k) and 1 large(8k) sit down propane, and 3 electric reach trucks) and only 1 order picker

Previously 80k GVW long haul tractor/trailer and then 105.5k GVW locally for a gas tanker truck/trailer combo.

I've always thought it would be interesting to work with heavy construction equipment. Every boy wants a REAL Tonka truck
