I am eating a vending machine tuna croissant (first mistake) and I bite into a big hunk of stringy celery, Damn I hate the stuff. The flavor is like eating the ass from a goat. (not that I would know. ) Who the hell actually eats this crap and why?? I would rather eat my own boogers than celery.

When I was a kid, I would eat the peanut butter and raisins out of the celery and throw the crap away.

The only way to eat it is de-stringed, with cream cheese or peanut butter. Or cooked!

I put it in chicken salad but I run a peeler across the surface first to take off the long, stringy portion. The crunch is a nice contrast and it's good roughage.

I use celery stalks to eat my Salmon and celery lunch every day. I probably go through about 8 or 9 bunches of celery every week.
Good stuff, and good for you. Unclog an artery and live.

There is no way a guy has a right to start a rant about the way anything tastes (Including goat ass) when he actually pays money for, and bites into a vending machine sandwich that contains mayo and a fish product.

I like the heart of the celary not very stringy and has a better flavor. Also celary is great to put in soup when making broth just put it in whole and take it out after it has simmered for a few hours.

Do you know why all the cans of soup have tons of celery in them?

I have a relatives who works for campbells and I asked her:

"It is a very inexpensive filler that is low-calorie so it allows us to make soup cheaper that is still filling and has lower calorie/fat content."

I realized my first mistake was a vending machine tuna sandwich, but sometimes you're limited to choices.

Well I've always used celery in my soups but anyway the question was who eats it so I have to say I do. Celery is great with beer cheese. JUst fill it up with the cheese and you are in heaven. Penut butter also goes well with the beer chese and celery.

I like celery and actually it is one of the few foods that burns calories while you eat it. To digest it you burn calories. It is very good for you.

I eat it with peanut butter all the time, ranch dip too is yummy. I also put it in tuna salad or chicken salad and in any soup I make.

Celery is delicious.

I eat it raw, just munching on a stick of it.

Great as the basis of a sauce with onion, garlic, tomato, etc.

Nice to cut it up and mix with chicken and mayo and eat in a sandwich.

Excellent in soup.

Hey man, celery is actually pretty good! You need to try celery with peanut butter. Plus, what the hell are you going to eat with hot wings? Nothing goes better than celery sticks and blue cheese dressing.

It's almost impossible to cook Creole/Cajun food without celery.  Part of the "trinity" along with onion and bell pepper.
Real deal French food uses "mirepoix" which is onion, celery and carrots.  I like it cooked, but I don't care for raw

Edited to add:  A vending machine croissant sounds WAY more disgusting than celery!

File` is an alternate thickener to gumbo.  The high class thickener is roux but when flour is rare, powdered sasafrass leaves (file`) was used.

Celery is also required in etouffee.  This is actually the "father" to gumbo, the latter being a creole implementation using orka.  Gumbo is the creole word for okra.

No, I am NOT Cajun or even French.  I just like the food.

I like it cooked (in gumbo, soup, etc.) and I will eat it in salad and maybe eat it alone if it has some sort of dipping sauce (i.e. like blue cheese when you're eating hotwings)

Actually, I have heard from different people that it is a "Negative Calorie" food

it has little to no calories that it burns more calories to eat it than it gives you back.

Cool!

Celery is M-Mmm good

Soups, salads, snacks...

One thing about being a survivalist you can't be picky about what you eat.

Although it actually cost you more calories to process it than it is worth, nutritionally speaking.

Celery, carrots, dressing and hotwings always go together and with peanut butter it's a good snack.
