back when i rode with patrol deputies in the crown vic....anything that passed us over 120 MPH we just kept sitting in the hide and sneak hole.

Why not cap us peasants to only 80mph?

I can get my bug to about 75 but it feels like 140. Really sketchy at those speeds when gou get hit by a cross wind.

My 2006 silver bagger tops out at 122

Speed limiting predates your SJW meme by 20 years, thank the lawyers and quislings for the "feature".

I had a 1980's Nissan and a few Hondas from 80's to 00's, all were governed around 112-114 or so.

My old 16 silverado with the 6.2l wouldnt even do 100 mph. I smacked that limiter numerous time passing people.

Back in the day I was quite dismayed that my ‘99 XJ8 Jag was electronically speed limited at 145.

88 was chosen for that since that's the top speed of a DeLorean.

It’s frustrating, because sometimes I’m driving home from work on the interstate doing my 45 mile commute in my 2016 Yukon Denali and I see that I’m going 110 without even realizing it.  I know that bitch could safely do 130

Tire speed rating

NO, you can get tires rated for much higher speeds. Mine (from the factory) are rated W =168 mph.  Supposedly, it tops out at 162.

Well it's only a matter of time before the nannies go after vehicles in the US. "No one needs to go that fast. Why would anyone need that much horsepower?"

It's their way of sidestepping the flak of eventual legislation (just like guns) because cars are a way of American life, and it would cause massive blowback.

"Oh, it's for tires and stuff." "We need to have a conversation about blah blah blah..."

GFY. I wanna go fast. Even with your neutered cars, almost anyone who tunes today has a way of hacking an ECU to make that irrelevant.

Get your pre-ban cars now.

Because that was the top speed of cars when they were invented.....according to AOC.

My Acura TL topped out at 120 and would just bounce off the 120 mark.

My g35 would cut out at 130, you would hit it and here “eeeeee” I think it cuts the fuel.

Think my Escalade goes to 110

I'm not going to say on an open forum what my STS is limited to, but it's faster than your G35.

Good reason to buy a classic, or just reprogram the ECU.  Easier said than done but good incentive to crack the factory programming.

Some of them are nearly impossible to get into.

I think Mopars are notoriously tough.

On the other hand, my first car was a 1966 Mustang with a 200 cid straight six and a 3 speed manual transmission.  That thing would barely do 105 with a 2 mile long straight stretch with a 20 mph tailwind.  Not to mention the front end felt like it was floating and I could barely keep it on the road.  Auto tech has come a long way in 50 years.
