I'm a toyota truck fanboi.... I think its even funnier that Toyota corporation wont sell trucks of any make and model to third world shitholes... For the exact reasons posted above.....
https://mag.toyota.co.uk/reports-of-toyota-vehicles-in-use-in-conflict-zones/ Toyota has a strict policy and due diligence in place to not sell vehicles to a potential purchaser who may modify such vehicles for military use without our knowledge and consent. We have an internal executive committee at headquarters in Japan to check the intended use of vehicles and the potential purchaser before the transactions. |

Quoted: That last one looks like my old work truck in Alaska. Our company bought 3 of them from a drilling company from Alberta. All the diesel engines were different, and all the transmissions were different. We had to buy parts out of Canada, unavailable in the US. Mine was roller painted white with an elevated work platform over the cab, with a flat fiberglass hood you could work from, too. It was the most conventional, with an inline 6 with a 5 speed, reverse was on the bottom left. I looked into trying to import one for my own use, but I was looking at a $70k grey market truck from South Africa View Quote Attached File Attached File Clapped out mine trucks? J70 like above? I'm surprised at 3 different transmissions. 3 different manuals? You'll have better luck from UAE than Toyota Canada Dealers. $70k - who would import a South African J70 to the for $70K - I'm interested. Attached File @Elwood_Blues |

Like most auto journalism anymore, what's left out is likely more important than what's reported. Details matter, tho they don't attract clicks. Attached File Pretty self explanatory and I've highlighted the pertinent, but if you have any questions, I'll lay out specifics. Attached File All mfgs have recalls. Toyota is historically consistently in the lowest quintile. As they are currently. Attached File Attached File Some like Ford avail themselves of the formal NHSTA process and have investigation, engineering review, ongoing discussions, then issue a recall at findings, well over two years from the initial reports. Sometimes mfgs merely program these types of things but Ford wouldn't have been able to here, even if they'd chosen too. It's an interesting contrast to Toyotas response with the V35A issues tho, or even the axle component defect from a supplier you highlight. |

They need to work on their quality and QC before they start bringing in new models or mounting AA guns. Repeat it in every thread until it's true. When JD Power calls, refuse the call. Pallas' statement assumes and implies a number of things. Toyota has never had issue before, their current/recent QRD performance is has significantly deviated, and at a level that impacts widely. None are true. But there's some truth, even using short, poorly directed quality surveys like JDP IQS and VDS. Recently, compared to previous PP100 performance, and to other mfg, Toyota slipped. JDP VDS '22 and '23 Toyota was 5 or 6 behind a couple GM and Korean brands. 2024 they were back on top. JDPs methodology has some issue for core quality measurements, but peeps like to bandy it about to detract or confirm. It's useful, but very narrowly and only in a manner which the data and report reflects. In each of these thread we have peeps make comments with little objective basis. Pallas has a grain of truth, tho well overstated. |

Aichi and Hamura produced non-hooked beds for some trims. You could find a breaker if you want JDM. Various facilities produced various designs over time. This new generation is definitely having some growing pains without a doubt. Current production Toyotas in other countries that aren't hindered by our stupid laws are doing just fine. You should check the Saudi LC/LX recalls, the Daihatsu falsification issues impacting just about every Global Market, even the pretty loose ASEAN markets. They've had some other issues there, airbag sensors like many of the markets, welding faults on a few models, but that goes back a few model years. There's always issue in mfg. If there's zero recalls, shits getting swept under. Especially with the supply disruptions near term. Europe's pretty stupid and Toyota has been pretty solid there. Mostly sensor and electronics last few years. The TIC engine power certification fraud was big news but small potatoes. So it's not just the States law/regs that's the issues. I would say don't business in the most litigious country in the world holds a lot of risks. It's good it's also the most lucrative - for now. |
