Sort of carrying on the theme from the "Is He Special Forces?" thread...

Saturday morning my college age son and I went to the 10:45 a.m matinee and saw Acts of Valor, from there went to the range and broke in his new Glock, and shot my old Commander. We were dressed similiar....jeans, flannel shirt, wool coat.

At the theater, I see a guy...kid...probably 25....with a Army ballcap, Army silkish tanker jacket, and sweat pants that say ARMY down each leg. I was IN the Army and never had that much logo gear....he's standing out front of the theater, kinda glaring at everyone. Badass.

At the range, we get in a long line for a lane, and at least 1/2 of the 10 guys ahead of us were in some sort of partial military uniform/tactical gear. Lots of that "Multi-Cam" camo (not being a secret agent, I don't have any of that yet) The conversations were awesome...loud conversations, probably just noise to thier companions, but really meant for the rest of us: " Yep, just need a little trigger time...." corny/macho shit like that.

My son and I, clad in our obviously REMF jeans and plain old shirt (plain old as in no misapplied Ranger tabs, no 82nd patches on our right sleeve) just kept our mouth shut, exchanged glances, and blazed through 200 rounds in about 30 minutes.

Comically, and we could only see the targets to our right and left, all that "trigger time", and all of that travel gathering tabs, patches, and pieces of gear, didn't relate to good shooting. The targets portraying the glaring, evil bad guys that our neighbors were ventilating didn't appear to have an aiming point, there were holes all up and down....with damn few in the chest.

Damn I hope the weather breaks so we can just go shoot in the woods by ourselves, without the squad of Saturday morning Rangers.
