Did I get hopelessly drunk on Long Island Iced Teas the night before I have to fly back home in the morning from a month long trip to Reno? What kind of sense does that make? I have to leave in 3 hours and I am hoping the salt in the Wack Arnold's fries and the water I'm drinking can save me from a horrible hang over later today. Man my wife is gonna be pissed if I show up hung over....why did i do it??

I was around 30 years old when a group of subcontractors invited my wife and I to a local bar. Some one suggested pitchers of Long Island Tea, I had never heard of it .
Went down just like tea, dont remember how much I had ,but remember how bad I felt for the next few days.

It is second on my list to never drink again with tequila being number one on the list. I reciveda bottle of Cabo Wabo for xmas 7 years ago and may never be opened.

Water, then light beer.

eta: My long Island Ice Tea story... I turned 21, and had several brought to me in the 'party' glass on my birthday.... I was still buzzed the next day, and hungover for at least 2 more days after that.

It's on my "avoid" list now.

Stop drinking cheap alcohol and you don't have to worry about hangovers.

I've drunk plenty and never had a hangover in my life. It works.

No, it doesn't. My research has been vast and should have qualified for a grant.

Why would salt help with a hangover?

Drink water..lots of it.

You must be drunk now

That's ridiculous.
OP drink much water and get bread into you if you can. But if you are completely splotto you're going to be hung over no matter what.

Vomiting is another option

Dude, you were in Reno for a month...it's perfectly understandable that you drank too much.

I have to go out there for a trade show in October and just the thought of it makes me want to start drinking NOW.

I'd be drinking too if I had to go back to Oklahoma?

No, it's not. Impurities, fermentation by-products from something that hasn't fully fermented, the flavoring shit added to cheap crap like Smirnoff Ice... all contribute, and are avoidable.

Of course there's the dehydration headache, but that's easily headed off.

Amen Brother...Amen. I just got two hours of the most glorious sleep ever, and I'm still drunk. It's gonna be a rough fuckin day.

With Tahoe being so close to Reno, I really don't want to leave.

get some Gatorade. The last time I had Long Island Ice teas, I ended up in jail for the night. I will never drink one again.

Many years ago my wife and my parents were on vacation togather in Cancun.I drank so much the night before we were suppost to leave that I spent the morning in the shower puking''telling everyone to leave without me''Somehow I did make it home! I got sick into a bag everywhere we went-the car, airport, plane etc. That was a terrible day.

Salt is only going to dehydrate you more and make the hangover worse.

Hangover is caused by dehydration caused by the body burning off the alcohol and alcohol being a diuretic.  Secondly, the upset stomach and headache is caused primarily by the body using up stores of vitamin C and sugar while processing the booze out of your system.  Vitamin C deficiency = massive headache.  Sugar deficiency = massive headache.

Suck down some orange juice, eat a snickers bar and take a prevacid, tums, or zantac.  You will be G2G in an hour.  You will know you went too far last night, but you will be able to function without wanting to puke.

I found last time I was hungover like that... that a big thing of pressed apple juice with about 5 teaspoons out of one of those "sea salt" grinders you can get in the grocery store did the trick. 2 hours later I was completely good to go.  Mix drink and feel better.
