[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Why alcohol but not pot? (Page 1 of 3)

It is a fact that weed is far safer than alcohol. You can't overdose on it, and if somebody decides to drive while high they are far less likely to kill someone than if they were drunk. You don't ever see people that are high beating up family members or starting fights and getting violent. So what is it that makes weed worse than alcohol? |
I have no idea, but I agree with you. I do drink, but have never smoked pot or cigs FWIW. |
I have no problem with legalizing MJ...I feel that it isn't a drug that causes many problems and I couldn't care less if people want to sit in their homes all day, get high, and eat cookies. I think it's mildly retarded but but not criminal. Littering and....littering and....littering and............smokin' the reefer

Got any pictures of the scarecrow, too? |
Well said. |
|
Weed is bad and alcohol is good, mmmkay? That's a FACT. You can't refute it. Refuting it is just like saying that water is an element. Yeah, I cannot imagine the kind of mind it takes to say that alcohol is fine, but weed, which doesn't cause people to become violent, doesn't poison you and isn't addictive, is somehow worse. |
What about this famous pot smoker? ![]() It's all about control, and feeding the beast known as the War on Drugs. It's bullshit. If ANY of the reasons pot is "bad" were legitimate, prohibition of alcohol would have stayed. Alcohol BY FAR is more destructive to America by every measure than marijuana. |
What about this famous coke head?
|
Exactly! Pot doesn't do shit, while coke rots your brain!
|
|
Heroin, coke, meth, acid, pcp, etc. = BAD. Marijuana = FINE. I support having the hard drugs kept illegal. There is absolutely NOTHING good about them, and EVERYTHING harmful about them. You CANNOT do them recreationally. They WILL control you. But pot is in a completely different category. It's in there with tobacco, alcohol and caffeine. |
|
It can't be effectively regulated or taxed, it has to be criminalized or the Gov. would just have to mind its own business...(Riiight) They call it weed for a reason, it'll grow anywhere. The one valid arguement against MJ as I see it is it's a recreational drug with no significant downside, it doesn't destroy the body or the mind, it's not addictive, it doesn't leave you hung over, nada. A recreational drug without any downside has a downside of its own, there's nothing stopping people from using it, and nothing stopping them from using it excessively. Everyone recognizes the downside to going through life stoned, I'm thinking of "Brave new world" as I write this. Of course the same can be said of almost any recreational activity, gaming comes to mind, internet message boards, etc. |
Or we could show the endless pics of winos, bums, slovenly wifebeaters, idiot fratboys, etc. too...
|
Or just one pic of Senator Swimmer?
|
Not to mention all the lives and families it has destroyed. |
|
Alcohol is food. Fuel for the body. Yes, the body derives useful energy from alcohol. But the body cannot generate fat from alcohol, unlike other carbohydrates. Pot is a toxin, the plants evolved this chemical defense against herbivory, the act of animals feeding off the plants. That we derive pleasure from it does not make it any less toxic. Yes, alcohol can be a poison, just like water (13 liters is toxic to 50% of the people consuming it in one hour). Too much sugar is also bad as is too much protein. |
This bottom pic needs to be a pic of lootie |
|
There was great documentary of the history of weed narrated by Woody Harrelson. It all stemmed from Mexico and it said that Mexicans would be driven to an insane murderous mindset when high. I cant remember the name of the movie/documentary. If I do I will edit.. |
It would turn us into happy black people? |
Jah mon! |
Alcohol is a metabolic waste product from yeast in an anaerobic environment. Caffeine is also a plant toxin, and is far more poisionous to many types of herbivores than THC. All of this is irrelevant, of course. Caffeine and THC, while toxic to many types of animals, are not toxic to humans when consumed in typical quantities. |

I bet it will be legal one day. Its pretty common out here. I'll never forget being on a ride along with a JBT buddy in the ghetto. He's searching some gangstas car for crack, pulls a nice green bud out of the ash tray pulls the ash tray out looks behind it and around the area looks it over and puts it back. Got another call and let the guy on his way. Also I know a lot of potheads and that shit fucks with your memory pretty good. These guys are all the same, forgetting where their car keys are. Send them to the store to get 3 items they forget 2 of them. |
Not this shit again.
|
Now that's funny. I used to lead sight seeing/historical tours on Cape Cod. Whenever the Hyannisport segment came and it was time to mention the Kennedy family I would introduce them as a family that gained their power and wealth through profitting from the blackmarket during prohibition. Oh , and I agree , the hypocrisy is transparent - Anyone with a brain - user or not should see that. -JC |
Wow, that's a stunning argument!!! |
All I can say is that you are a much better behaved pot head than the ones I get to deal with. |
