Back in November my wifes account was wrongfully charged for ink that we did not order. We never received the ink or a bill showing we ordered it.

On March 5th we talked to someone in Dell Customer service who explained they did see the glitch and they would refund the account immediately but it would take 6-8 business days to show up.

So, since March 5th we get 5-6 calls a day from Dell financial telling us that we owe them money. Everytime I explain to them the situation and give them the reference number that Dell customer service gave us they still ask how would we like to pay the past due fees.

I've talked to supervisors who laugh at me and hang up on me...my wife is literally in tears.

I'm at an end with this...I am tired of talking with Indian's who tell me their name is Jose Hernandez


What can I do?

I dunno.  But to answer your question, as to why Dell sucks:

I dunno.  They do indeed really, really, really, really suck.  The products themselves ain't so bad, but God help you if you ever need customer or technical support.  I will never buy another Dell product just based on the shitty tech support I got.

I boughta PDA from them about 3 years ago.  The bluetooth wouldn't connect no matter what I did.  I got to talk to several different people in India who ultimately were unable to figure out the problem.  After the hassle with it, and Dell's impeccable customer service, I returned it.  

It took I don't know how many calls, and finally the BBB, to get my money back over a month later.  This was one of those times that the Better Business Bureau actually got something fixed.  After that, I will never buy anything Dell ever again.

Dell is awesome.  If we have a drive go out on a server and call in by 9am the replacement drive is sitting on our desks by 2pm that afternoon!

You get what you pay for.  If you buy the bottom of the line product and don't pay for a higher level of support...well don't complain when you are stuck on hold.

You get what you pay for? I am not talking about computer hardware, I am talking about harrassment for items I didnt purchase and them not understanding.

I have always had a good experience when doing business with Dell.  I like their products.  I guess the only problem is when you get tech support from some third world country; but it is nothing compared to the support from XM radio or On-Star's third world folks.

Actually the title of the thread was about Dell sucking and other people were chiming in on their poor customer service.

The problem you are having can be experienced at any large company that accidently bills you.  Sprint screwed up 6 months after I closed my account and started billing me.  It took another 4 months to get it straightend out.  All I can suggest you do is call, get names and the departments they work in, and keep calling until someone finally figures it out.  Sustomer support whether it is in India or a high school drop out here in the US is worthless.  If you call back enough you will eventually find someone who managed to get their GED and can figure things out.

I recently bought a new Dell.

My old Dell from 2000 wouldn't work but I couldn't just re-install the operating system because I had used up almost all of the memory.  Not smart on my part.

I called a guy in Calcutta (I kid you not) and he walked me through the problem.  I was very happy.
