| Just out of curiosity why is it that some people insist on trade only offers? I always thought cash was king. I personally would rather have cash for my sales but I guess I am missing the reasoning behind the trade. I am in no way pointing fingers at anyone person. I have run across some stuff that I wanted on here but I couldn't get a cash price from them because they only want to trade. |
Yup--trade means that there's a 100% chance that I get what I want. Sale for cash means that there's a 65% chance that suddenly something will break that costs 90% of the money I picked up in the sale to buy something else... Nearly my entire gun collection has been based around trades. If you're smart and patient, you can and most of the time DO end up with exactly what you want, and if you're smart and sometimes lucky, you're actually able to trade up.. |
trades are great if your married. "honey, I didn't buy a new gun. I traded one my evil-looking rifles for a less evil-looking one." and the saga continues...... |
| Because cash screams to be used for "more responsible" things, like paying off bills, etc. Trade is one toy for another. I really want to pick up a 6.8 upper, but I got a big ol' speeding ticket the other day, tuition bills are coming up... If I can trade something that I have, but don't necessarily want to sell, it's a WHOLE lot easier to justify. |

Sometimes you have something nice but your done playing with it. Being that your not sure what you want you put it up for trade only. And if something nice or interesting comes along you make the trade. If you sold you get cash which would probably be put to something practical. Also, with selling you haved to sell it for used prices. Then to turn around and purchase something at new prices. Trading gets you what you want right then. |
