Ok, just played Wii for the first time at a friends. I had been considering P90X for a workout program but after seeing the Wii fit adn playing the boxing game and seeing the yoga, strength training, running and all of the rest of the stuff i am wondering if i would not be better off getting a Wii. just based on the fact that it is a video game would make me want to play more. My wife disagrees. the Wii is only gonna cost $50 more.

Do you think the Wii would be good for a workout program?

note... I have a hard time setting up, and keeping up with a workout regemine. I do great for a while and then get behind for a month or 2 and have to start over. also I work 2nd shift which makes it hard to get into a gym and or martial arts program. believe me i wiuld much rather do martial arts.

If you want to workout at home, buy a power rack and a bench and squat/deadlift/benchpress

then do crossfit.

no offense intended, but you sound like the average person who has no workout discipline.  What that means is you need something FUN to work out to, not something repetitive like weight training or jogging.  The wii fit sounds like just the ticket.  The key is to get your heart rate up for a minimum of 20 minutes straight, for a minimum of 3 times per week (but preferably daily).  You might even want to consider taking a martial arts class, since you'll be in a group and thus less likely to cheat (plus, if you're a cheap bastard like me, the thought of throwing away money by not attending class will keep you going as much as the desire to get in shape!)   Long story short, if it's fun, and you enjoy doing it, GO FOR IT!  (Plus, those wii games are a blast to play)

Well, since you're going to drop out either way, at least the Wii will have value after you stop.
