Just bought a Defender from a buddy and I played with it a little today for the first time. I have had a pump shotgun before so I am familiar with them, but this one just will not lock the bolt either with or without a shell in it. It is a 'Speed Pump' version and I understand they unlock after they are fired, but this thing doesn't lock. I cannot imagine that I am doing something wrong. Any ideas?

No dice. Completely disassembled. No real gunk or trash inside.
Soooo, I did a little more disassembly and saw some odd wear on a doo-hickey that didn't look right. Did a little mini prybar(tiny screwdriver) giggering, slapped that bitch back together and it locks up like a dream! I guess I will pay my buddy the rest of the money I owe him.
Gunsmithing stuff is fun!® All the replies gave me the confidence to fix this, thanks all, well...almost all!
