I'm trying to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit to a Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB hard drive that I just bought. I downloaded the ISO from Digitalriver.com and burned it to a DVD using Nero. When I restart the computer I set my BIOS to boot from the CD/DVD drive first. As it starts up it will tell me to hit any key to boot from disc and when I do it just repeats the message.

I've never done this before so any help would be appreciated. The only thing I can think of is a bad boot disc. If that is the case I did order the extra disc from digitalriver.com but it probably wont be here for another two weeks.

Not sure I understand your statement, do you have two keyboards connected to the computer, one that is wireless and one that is not??

I'd recommend making another disc and see if that works?

Might have just been a bad media, happens every once in a while

Computer is a desktop. I have two keyboards because my desktop is also connected to my TV.

When I double click the ISO, whether it's the saved version on my harddrive or on the disc it opens Nero. Should it do that?

thats normal

my suggestion.  download iso burner 2.1  link    with another blank cd-r and try the install again.   the reason i asked you if it was a wireless keyboard is because not all of them work during "dos" commands.   Your first preference is using a ps2 or usb keyboard untill you get windows installed then switching to the wireless.   if thats the case

I might get a different ISO for some other purpose (Knoppix or something) and burn that.  See if you can boot that way.

It's possible the ISO does not have 'bootable' on there right.

Using a different disk will let you determine if it's a computer configuration problem, or a media problem where either the media is bad, or it wasn't properly made into a bootable disk.  I have had a lot of problems making bootable disks myself, so it's an easy thing to not get right even if the settings in the burning software look right.

It's possible to install Win7 from a hard drive. Using the ISO stored on your current HDD or a 4GB USB stick, something like Daemon Tools can mount that ISO as a disk drive. You can then install from that mounted drive.

Yep, I've recently setup my thumbdrive to install Windows 7.  Makes like so much easier.

Thanks everyone. Got it working tonight. Bad boot disc (or 2).

Now I'm just having trouble with ATI's drivers. As soon as I downloaded the latest drivers and restart my computer the screen goes black after the Windows logo. I'll start a new thread for that though.
