Can I backup all the files I want to keep on my secondary internal HD?  It is usually used to store the system backups when I run the Windows Backup program.  Would going from 32 to 64 bit be a good choice?

You mean your data? sure.

32 bit, 64 bit, really don't matter unless you're looking for something specific.

Any files on your non OS drive or partition wont be deleted from a clean install. If you plan to have more then 3 gig RAM or want to run any programs that need the 64 bit OS then do the 64bit, if not then doesn't really matter I'm running 64 bit on a laptop that doesn't really need but everything works fine with it.
