Ok Arfcom, I am at a stand still on this as nothing I have tried so far works. Without having to re install win 7 how can I reset the computer password. We recently moved so all the recovery disks have vanished into moving box hell.  My youngest reset the password to access the computer and now doesn't remember it. the only account we get access is the guest account.

Yep I use this. I have had best luck with just clearing the password instead of changing it to something else. ymmv.

I have also had the best luck just clearing it and then once back in Windows resetting it.

If you want a full set of tools google Ultimate Boot CD, the ntpasswd tool is included.

That's a good boot disc utility to have. I've also used Ophcrack with very good results.
