| I just got my free upgrade in the mail and I want to know what ya'll think. Should I do it? How is it working for those of you that have it? Poll inbound. |

I noticed an intimidate positive difference. It's pretty like vista... It's super fast at start up. Programs I had that didn't work with vista now work. Everything generally feels faster. There are a number of interesting new gizmos... like the ability to set your background image to change itself every (insert length of time). The only problem I had was on my laptop... but that was because there were loose metal bits randomly shorting things out... It's now better. |

ok so for a non-computer fella like myself.. if i just throw in the upgrade and let er rip... im basically going to loose all my shit on my computer... ie: pics, music, funny arfcom pics, college shit etc... ill have to tfer all the shit i want to keep off my desktop and other folders to my external harddrive and then just bring it all back correct? |

I run XP. I bought the 7 upgrade and a new hard drive. As long as 7 sees a copy of Windows somewhere, itll work.
So I installed my new HDD, ran the upgrade. It asked me where I wanted 7 to go. Selected new drive, 15 min later 7 is updated and running. I left the HDD with XP on it so I can dual boot. DO IT!!! |

Always back up your shit anyway That way I dont hear people whine about they lost all their data. What if the hard drive crashes tomorrow? |
| I put Windows 7 on my wife HP Pavilion ZD7200. Every thing works great except the touch pad. If it is left on it causes the cursor to jump all over the screen while you are typing. The fix so far is to manually turn the touch pad off and use an optical mouse. I need some way to turn it off so it doesn't start at boot up. Any ideas. |
I bought a new laptop last weekend & microsoft offers a free upgrade to 7 from Vista so I took it. Problem now is my printer WON'T print!
I've seen the printer in my devices page, I've seen the file in the printer que but NOTHING prints! I went to the printer mfgr's web site & software for 7 won't be out until early Dec. Can ANYONE help this idiot make his printer work, please!!!!!!! Thanks! Oh, yes, I prefer the look of XP to 7 but too late now..................... |

I upgraded 3 computers, and no problems on any of them. All run much faster. Easiest upgrade I have ever done. I liked not having to fuck with all the disks to install all the driver BS. I upgraded from XP.
I don't understand why folks won't spend 50 bucks and get a second HDD and put their keeper files on it, pics, music, etc..... Makes life so much easier when doing this type thing, also if the main shits the bed you still keep the your important stuff. Yes I still burn everything every 6 months to disk for a more positive back up. Just thought. |
