It no longer will play AVI formats. Say it can't find omgconv.dll. I looked and found it in C: somethingorother/supportclient.com/backup ... or something like that. I tried downloading a new version of WMP and when I went to install it said I had the latest version and wouldn't install. So now what do I do? How do I fix this? Is there a free downloadable media player that works better? If so can someone provide a link and name? Thanks, in advance. |

I can't help you directly with WMP. Lord only knows what Windows does with things sometimes; I think only a true glutton for punishment still prefers to use Windows (and I should know, I'm one of 'em). However, if you ever need just about any kind of program, visit www.download.com , they have somewhere in the vicinity of 60,000 freeware and shareware programs for your enjoyment. The downside is that some of the stuff there doesn't work so well. The upside is that there are probably 100 programs available to do whatever you need done, many for FREE. Go get 'em. (you may have to register, but it doesn't bombard you with spam, it's a great site.) |

Go into your control panel and open add/remove programs. Uninstall WMV and then try to download the newest version one more time. Before doing that you might want to check out this Website. Some avi files can't play in WMV because they were created with a divx codec. Download and install the codec for the WMV and see if you can view the avi files. |
