I recently replaced my old all in one HP printer with a newer photosmart series that supports wireless.  From the instructions, I understand that I can print from my laptop wirelessly.  However, I would like to find out if I could do the same with my desktop.  Currently the printer is plugged into the desktop via a USB cable.  Unlike the laptop, my desktop doesn't have wireless and is instead hooked to the netgear router via ethernet cable.  I have the  printer on a small open style bookcase (set of shelves, or whatever).  When the printer is running it rocks the stand like an earthquake, which worries me that it will damage the stand over time (or cause stuff to fall off).   I would like to be able to move the printer to the other side of the room and place it on the coffee table I have between my chair and the wall since it would be more stable and would like to avoid having to run a cable across the room.

I don't have a traditional desk for the pc.  I have it inside a tv stand  and am using a 40" LCD Sony as a monitor.  Since I had a wireless keyboard and and mouse I decided to ditch the desk and instead have a big comfy chair, an ottoman and a tv stand.  With Chrome set to display at 144% of normal size, its working great and so much more comfortable that sitting at a desk.
