Anyone had theirs removed?
If so, was there pain before that caused you to go to the dentist? Jaw started hurting last night, kinda stayed throughout the day. Now I'm drinking bourbon.
Reading all this medical bullshit doesn't do me a lick of good. And before someone says go to the doctor or dentist, their appointment schedule is fubar, so that'll take a while. Also, no one better call dibs on my shit.

| I had my back top one pulled about 3 months ago. It had a hole in the side of it. They used Novocaine and pulled it out. It was a very uncomfortable procedure, but being numbed up, the pain was not bad. The days after were miserable and I got real sick, though - and that was just one pulled! |

I hate these damn threads cause my fucking wisdom teeth are fucked!! I'm trying to hold out till the spring to get mine removed cause two are impacted and the other two are rotted the fuck out and are just two holes with a shar of bone............ oh boy are you in for some fun

had mine taken out my sr year in hs. didnt hurt at all getting it done. i was awake, but with iv fed valuum. didnt feel a damn thing(except really good ) it wasnt escrutiating afterwards, but there was def a soreness for the next couple weeks. but they gave my percs and ib profin. I was able to stretch my percs out longer since i only took half of one a day. those took the pain completely away. once those ran out, the ib profin helped a lot, but like i said, it was never THAT bad. it just sucked having chipmunk cheeks for a while though.

Had all four impacted removed. Same day, had pizza afterward before the pain meds wore off. I hear this a lot. I know for a fact there was no way I was going to be able to do that. From what I hear, people legitimately react differently to getting their wisdom teeth out. I've been told the older you are, the worse it is. Maybe it's the technique the Dr uses? Who knows. All I know is I feel sorry for the poor fuckers that got them out in boot camp. I was at Parris Island dental a couple of weeks ago for a follow up and there were recruits sitting in the chairs with towels over their eyes getting their wisdom teeth ripped out with just novacane. A couple of minutes in the chair and back to the squad bay. Then they get 2 days to lay in bed and back to training. I'm soooooooooooooo glad I didn't have to go through that in boot camp.

Just had mine removed in July.
They knocked me out until it was time for the last one to come up at which point I woke up. I was still really out of it at the time, felt a little pain and heard the pop. That tooth was the cause for all the rest, I figured once I needed to have one removed that I might as well have them all removed. It had a hole in it that allowed it to basically rot from the inside out, once he started to pull it it shattered, I ended up finding a small shard of tooth in the socket about two months later, so be careful of that. The others were healthy but...no sence in leaving them in so they could go bad later and I would just have to end up paying for them to be removed or if the SHTF having wisdoms extracted in those conditions would be horrible. Sockets are all healed now |

If they are causing you problems, have them removed otherwise, spend your cash elsewhere. How sure are you that your wisdom teeth are specifically causing your jaw ache? Could it be that you were clenching your teeth last night while sleeping and the ach will pass within a day? Or have you been trying to "suck golf balls through a garden hose" again...? edit: I know people/family in their 40's who still have their wisdom teeth and no problems. |

Air Force pulled mine, even though they were giving me no problems, but the doc said they could become a prob so he cut them out. I was worried about it but it turned out to be a total breeze. He had the two lower ones out before I knew it; I thought they were still prepping.
The pain was really annoying late at night for a couple nights. They didn't knock me out or give me laughing gas - I would have declined the gas anyway - too affraid I'd deliriously ramble on about the assistant's boobs or some stupid shit. |

I had a non-aggression pact with my wisdom teeth. That was honored for many years, until one of the bottom ones started hurting. Kind of a dull pain in the area. After a couple weeks it didn't go away, so I made an appointment for the Doc to have a look and later had all of them taken out.
I got the whole "it's worse when you are older" talk, too, but based on the increasing soreness I didn't need any convincing. The one that was hurting took about 40 minutes (apparently it had some gnarly roots and was impacted), the other three were crowned and came out in 10 minutes. It was odd hearing all of the cracking and having my head pulled around in different directions, but I just listened to my iPod and took pleasure in the fact that those teeth wouldn't be bothering me anymore. Did it on a Friday afternoon. Bags of frozen peas on the jaw kept the swelling down, I took it easy all weekend and was back to work on Monday. |

Had 3 out when I was 20 or 21. I only had 3. Dentist did it with a bunch of Novocaine and whatever tools they use. Went out partying till the wee hours that night. Think hookers and blow. The percocets were fun to experiment with.Never needed them for any pain, I was taking them recreationaly. |

I went directly to the pharmacy with a crapload of gauze in my mouth and kind of grunted while I handed the script to the pharmacist. They knew what was up. Got home, popped my pill, and proceeded to watch a bunch of TV I had saved up on the DVR. The plot of a Simpsons episode was difficult to follow. After an hour, I realized my body had been telling me my shirt felt wet for the last fifteen minutes. I looked down and I was drooling on my t-shirt.

So you're ready to have them pulled out because your jaw started hurting yesterday and you're not even sure if they are the problem?
My bottom two came in completely sideways and the top of them were growing into the backside of the teeth in front of them. It finally got to where it hurt enough that I finally had them taken out. I probably waited two or three years from when it started intermittently hurting until I had them pulled out. |

When they hurt, there is no other pain like it.
I have one broken off. I have another that I guess put pressure on the tooth in front of it cause it broke one day while driving. That was a couple weeks ago. Now my jaw is swollen and hurts like a mother fucker. Waiting to get in to the dentist and find out how fucked I am. I am one of those who are afraid dentist. As a kid we didn't have anything and the dentist I went to was paid in dirt or something. He didn't use anything on me. I know that's why I'm fucked up. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

| I guess the pain varies alot and my experience was a better one. I got mine pulled just with novacane. I felt some tugging and I didn't even realize he pulled my impacted teeth out. Absolutely no pain through the proceedure, and after. I had a prescription for vicodin that I didn't have to use. I did drool blood for a while after the proceedure, couldn't tell because my mouth was numb. I suggest wearing a bib. |

When they hurt, there is no other pain like it. Yeah there is. Quick story, my sister is a family law attorney and did a divorce for a local dentist. I needed a root canal and he said he'd make me a killer deal, ended up not costing me anything after insurance. About a year later he gets busted for crystal meth and is no longer a dentist. About a year after that I'm getting ready for the 4th of July and unloading firework to mount to the boards and instantly that tooth starts hurting like a motherfucker, as in I had to stop what I was doing and just sat down for about 20 minutes and then it stopped hurting just as quickly. Made an appointment with a new dentist and he said there shouldn't be anything left to hurt. He took an x-ray of it and then shows it to me. There's part of a drill bit broken off down inside the root of that tooth.

Also, no one better call dibs on my shit. ![]() mine came out between senior year of highschool and freshman year in college. Worst experience of my life, but due to the dentist. He hit me with the local shots, but not enough/he didnt let it take hold. first two teeth came out without any numbing from the shots. I about beat his ass before I passed out. woke up and the other two were out. luckily no complications after. I got mine out as I was starting to have some problems that my Dr was blaming on them (increased tonsilitis and sinus issues). If you need em out, get em out, but ask to be put under and/or on a sedative. J- |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I shit you not, I didn't see a dentist for at least 20 years. I was scared to death but had a broken tooth that needed attention. I picked a dentist out of the yellow pages. I couldn't have chosen a better dentist. He was a little younger than me, was up on all the latest techniques and materials. It wasn't anything like the guy that yanked my wisdoms. Modern office, good looking nurses. I dropped at least $10k fixing my teeth, paid out of pocket. It was a cake walk. He also is a conservative. The only pain I've ever felt was the Novocaine injection and the bill. |
