When you suck on straws blood will seep out of the sockets for the first few days and make everything taste weird.

Make sure the shakes aren't too thick.

I was supposed to get mine pulled like 6 years ago. They are completely in now, I get food and shit stuck in there all the time. I really should get around to having them pulled.

your mouth is full of crazy flora and fauna and wisdom teeth extraction runs a high risk of infection/abscess which is why they have you on the amoxicillin

your oral surgeon should have told you to avoid drinking from straws or smoking cigarettes, the suction can disturb the clots and create a dry socket, which is painful and not fun.

mine were completely impacted (at a 90 degree angle to the other molars)... i took some percasetts and slept for a day... i was eating regular food the next day... make sure you rinse your mouth out after eating... you don't want any food to linger back by the incisions

I typically will recommend shakes but no straws.  Its a big deal since the pressure created has a tendency to interfere with the blood clot.  If you lose the clot the best thing that can happen is the site bleeds and forms a new one.  The problem we run into is when we lose the clot and it does not bleed.  It's called Dry Socket, it's really painful and will require another visit to your dentist to treat it.  Other things you may want to avoid is spitting and rinsing which you'll want to do because of the nasty taste in your mouth.  RESIST for the same reason as above.  I hope you feel better soon!

Yeah thanks for the info guys!

Yeah i was instructed to avoid straws, stick to soft foods, nothing to hot... One of mine were trouble because it was sort of under a back molar. All good though. Most pain was the novication, which is never bad at all.

I would suggest you quit eating shit.

It never turns out well.

In my family we have a 50/50 chance of getting wisdom teeth.  I count my blessings that i got the good side of the coin toss and no wisdom teeth.

I've had all 4 of mine since 7th grade. Glad I've got enough room for 'em, I'd hate to have 'em pulled.

Too bad I have all teeth that a human can have in my mouth and everyone of them are situated properly and completly intact at AGE 50. (ONLY TWO FILLINGS AND ONE FRACTURE REPAIR)

Had mine done years ago.
Sucky but not too bad. Percs are good. Take them as prescribed - before the pain gets bad.
It's easier to keep pain away (proactively) than to take existing high pain away.
No sucking on things..........
You'll be OK in a few days.

I had mine out around 17 or so. Uppers were in the sinuses, so it was an "interesting" surgery according to the doc. She put me under around 8 AM and I woke up at home about 6 PM that evening. Apparently when I was in that "not conscious but not out yet" stage I provided some great entertainment to the doc and her nurses; she never would tell me what I said, possibly because my mom was right there with me

Here's to a speedy recovery.

One of my teeth is acting up and the docs say it can't be removed because it's attached to an important nerve, or something. Why do mouths have to be so damn nasty?
