Every other round going to cause stoppages? Too underpowered to cycle successfully?

Before I was no longer allowed to own ARs my rifles NOMNOMNOM any and all steel I could feed them

Runs fine in all my AR's. they are not tier 1, so that may be why.
Personally I would not own an AR that would not function with it.

I've shot probably 6000 rounds of the stuff. 5,500 worked flawlessly.

500 was so underpowered it wouldn't cycle 4 Different AR's ranging from 7.5", 10.5", 12" and 16" barrels. It wouldn't even cycle a Galil. It would cycle about 50% if shooting suppressed.

True enough...

Unlike a lot of ARF which seems to think your rifle is broken if it won't cycle Wolf, I increase the mass of my buffer 'til my rifle won't cycle Wolf.  That's a good spot for even low-powered US brass.

In my 3 AR's. It's all I shoot. Never had one problem after 1000's of rounds. I wouldn't trust a gun that can't shoot any kind of ammo you put in it.
9/5/2014 2:20:43 PM EDT
[#10]
that's a good price for plinking ammo.  I paid $269.50/1000 rds of Wolf 55 grain HP in May from AIM.

And not one ammo related failure out of the 500 rds of it that I have shot so far.

Dead nuts reliable in my ARs.

3-5 moa accuracy makes it plinking/blasting ammo for me

[#12]
I shoot it fairly regularly, and I've never had an issue.  I don't notice any differences in how it shoots compared to various brass.  It goes bang every time, it ejects, and it hits the paper in the same spots as the brass stuff.  The only difference is that this stuff is dirty.  It takes me longer to clean the bolt because after a hundred rounds of this stuff, the carbon really starts to stick to the bolt.  With my brass stuff, the carbon doesn't start to stick unless I fire a lot more rounds.

Stuff is horrible.

You should definitely not touch it.  Let idiots like me buy it all and get stuck with it.

Wolf .223 is terrible!

It ruined every gun I had after only 1 shot!  It caused rust to eat away all my Magpul furniture!  It made the ATF confiscate my 30 round magazines!

Please everyone, keep buying only brass!  I promise not to buy all the less costly freedom killing steel-cased stockpiles!
9/5/2014 2:30:07 PM EDT
[#16]
I should alot of Tula and Wolf in my AR's, no problems

It's accurate enough for off-bench shooting positions, which is what I use it for (and probably why I'm so fond of it).

I bought a case or two not long after it came out, and it ran great.  Then prices went full herp-derp, and I haven't bought any since.  I might just grab a case of this deal.

It wasn't called Polyformance.  Just polymer-coated.  Is it the same stuff?

ETA:  Hell, I'm in for a case.  My first ammo purchase in for-freakin-ever.

Well,  it smells like month old cat litter... don't use brass ammo after the steel workout having fully scrubbed the chamber.  Juice, sqeeze and whatnot.

Never had a hiccup out of it, runs fine and is very accurate at least in my rifles.

ETA: Some say it is harder to clean up after shooting, but I run my guns wet and all I have to do is wipe away the carbon, no sticking.

I bought a few thousand rounds of the 62 grain Wolf and it worked fine in numerous ARs I own ranging from 10.5", 11.5", 12.5", 14.5" and 16". Not one single malfunction in any of the guns. All the barrels are Colt or Noveske and I use carbine mil-spec buffer springs and H buffers in the 14.5 and 16", and H2 buffers in the 10.5 through 12.5". I also use the BCM 5-coil heavy duty extractor spring (minus donut) in all my ARs. All bolt carriers are full-auto mil-spec Colt, Noveske and LMT. Gas tubes are Colt, BCM and Noveske.

I've shot thousands of rounds of it, 2k of it suppressed.

I've shot about 4000-5000 rounds of the stuff over the past couple of years in a number of different AR's.  It was one of the only steel case offerings that functioned in my 14.5" Midlength BCM upper that choked on the majority of steel case.  Wolf Poly, Silver Bear, and MFS were the only ones that worked so I wouldn't call it underpowered when compared to shit such as Tula.

Thanks for posting the link by the way, just picked up a case.

The only real problem I have encountered with steel is stuck cases via fouled chambers. Other than that, it's about 90% of what I shoot.

Dude, the bi-metal jacket bullet shit is way overblown.  While the bi-metal jacket will wear your barrel more quickly, it isn't near as bad as some people make it.

Even going off of LuckyGunner's test (which is about worst case scenario, straight mag dumping the shit with loads of barrel heat), you'd still pay for a new barrel with the money you saved before you burned your current barrel out.

Bimetal jacket is probably not overblown. Its a mild copper wash over mild steel projectile, rather than lead.

I have shot thousands of it in my Saiga .223 - CHF/CL barrel. Throat leade is heavily chipped, but the rifle still shoots dead on POA as goos as it ever sid since new. The throat just looks like shit.

FWIW you need to see what factory it came out of, because quality varies. Barnaul loads the best steel .223, and most Wolf is currently fr Barnaul.

Skip Tulammo, typically undercharged, out of spec cases, some even lacking any case coating. Most Tulammo currently comes from Ulyanovsk, avoid that manufacturer if you can.

Google "russian case headstamps" to learn how to ID the factory by looking at box.

Runs fine in all my guns.  But then again, so did lacquer coated Wolf if you cleaned the chamber every few hundred rounds.
9/5/2014 5:14:16 PM EDT

I have shot close to 2000 rnds of the stuff no issues to report

I've had no issues with Wolf, Silver Bear and Brown Bear. I tried Tula and it failed to eject every other round. Never tried it again. I just picked up 1000 rounds of Wolf Gold. I've been told it's repackaged PMC. It is made in Taiwan.
9/5/2014 5:15:55 PM EDT
[#47]
I've never had any problems with it.  shot roughly 3000 rounds of the polyformance and military classic through a LWRC M6 and about another 1000 through a colt 6920.

it's my "go-to" steel case target/practice ammo.
9/5/2014 5:17:00 PM EDT
[#48]
I have not had any issues with it at the range just punching holes in paper.

I do hate the extra cleanup time it takes after shooting it though.
9/5/2014 5:22:00 PM EDT
[#49]
It works fine if I am not mag dumping over 85 degrees. Once my rifle gets hot, the cases start sticking.
9/5/2014 5:23:55 PM EDT
[#50]
It's good blasting ammo, if I didn't reload it's pretty much all I would buy for practice.
