Where can one buy said kangaroo? I want to try them in tacos.
Govt serves a useful purpose in this case. Otherwise there would be thousands of small businesses facing lawsuits from jackasses. |

Remember when it was just blind people with animals?
This kind of program is a modern sham. |

" ............ says she left the store voluntarily after a customer called police to complain."
Who the fuck would call the police? I can see if it kicked you in the 'nads or something, but otherwise it would be pretty fuckin cool to go to Micky D's and see a kangaroo. |

So many "service animal" fakers out there. It's despicable. If you run a business ALWAYS train your employees to ask the magic questions:
-Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? -What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Sure, you'll get liars, but it weeds out a lot of the bullshitters too. Also know that you can toss people who don't appear to have their animals under control or if they start pissing or pooping. Don't give in to the neurotic people who just feel like their dogs need to be with them at all times. |

Quoted: "Abused"? "Allowed"? Please tell me, how much more government do we need? Why isn't it up to an individual business owner whether he allows animals? Ever been to Europe? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: The whole service animal program is horribly abused by people who just want to take their pets places that they aren't normally allowed. I know someone who's horribly behaved little shit dog is a "service animal" so that her apartment building can't charge her for him. "Abused"? "Allowed"? Please tell me, how much more government do we need? Why isn't it up to an individual business owner whether he allows animals? Ever been to Europe? "Service animals" are used to subvert the desires of the individual business owner. That's my point. And yes, I've been to several countries in Europe. They are not exactly the model for how I would want a society to run. |

What would be very useful as a service animal would be some type of ape. Too bad they are all self centered.

I have always had a clearly posted "no pets" policy at my establishment. Do I still have to allow service animals in? A: Yes. A service animal is not a pet. The ADA requires you to modify your "no pets" policy to allow the use of a service animal by a person with a disability. This does not mean you must abandon your "no pets" policy altogether but simply that you must make an exception to your general rule for service animals. Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA. This definition does not affect or limit the broader definition of "assistance animal” under the Fair Housing Act or the broader definition of "service animal” under the Air Carrier Access Act. Some State and local laws also define service animal more broadly than the ADA does. Information about such laws can be obtained from the State attorney general’s office. |

in the past year I have started seeing a lot more people with "service" dogs on the metro around DC. Considering how some of them are acting, the breeds used, and the way in which the owners carry themselves, I think this emotional support bullshit is getting grossly exploited

I hear ya and I definitely appreciate the info. But I am renting out rooms in my house ( I am not an apt complex ) Hell when I run the ad it is worded exactly like this on one of the lines: No smoking no pets no drugs no kids no sec 8 no drama etc ... I shit you not. When I am 'interviewing' to fill one of the rooms of course I am looking for the sexiest / hottest 18-25yo chick that comes along. Who: has a car - has a job and agrees to the no guys visit rule. They can invite over all the girlfriends they want ... just no guys. Works like a charm I learned a few roomies ago to not have sex with them as they begin to look at it like trading ass for rent $$ - which is a no go. So I only mess around with their friends and not them. Its a complete and separate part of my house and I have 2000sf upstairs all to myself to roam. They use the kitchen and laundry upstairs and sometimes chill out with me and watch a Netflix movie or something. |

What would be very useful as a service animal would be some type of ape. Too bad they are all self centered. View Quote When I was growing up (yes, in WI and not far from the story in the OP ) a couple (no kids) in town volunteered to train a service monkey. They had him for about 2 years and taught him how to help with things around the house, call 911 if needed etc in order to help with his future special needs person. They took him everywhere with them, grocery shopping, work (she worked at the local paper), they volunteered a lot for the high school music dep so the monkey was always around etc. They also did school assemblies for the elementary schools. He was at all of the local events, parades, 4th fireworks, stuff like that. Everyone knew the monkey, they did a great job raising him and no one minded. I always thought that was pretty cool. A monkey can do far more for a person than a dog can (when the person needs some help getting stuff done around the house). Sadly, shortly after they sent him to his new home he got some sort of terminal illness. So, the couple that raised him took him back and kept him for the couple of months before he passed away. |
