In todays world what would you choose:
1) Work away from home for 3 weeks with one week off for a large amount of money 2) Work closer to home for 1 week on and 1 week off for smaller amount 3) Work close to home, home every night, for less money |

Can you get by/provide for your family with a local job that lets you see your kids everyday? If so, I'd take the local job. Family > Money. If you can't make ends meet, then you gotta do what you gotta do to provide for your family. Everyone would understand that. |

I've already made that choice.
I'm away from home a fair amount. Usually it's Mon-Fri, then I'm home for the weekend. Occasionally it's weeks at a time. The longer gigs suck, however, it is nice having $$$ in the bank, not sweating making ends meet, taking a real vacation and not sweating how much $$$ I spent on it, etc etc. |

Would you rather be remembered for being a rich old bastard who was never close with his family, except for providing monetary items, or being a great parent who gave lots of love? My boss is the former option and his kids are 24 and 28 and they see him once a year, despite him paying for college, their cars etc. They aren't close with him at all. They see their mother all the time as she raised them. |
