So i've been wearing my Matterhorn mining boots for two years now. They are a 12 W and i've noticed that towards the end of the day my 2nd toe from the outside starts to hurt pretty bad from rubbing the inside of the steel toe on both feet. My actual shoe sizes are 12.5 2E for my left foot and 12 4E for my right with socks on. I just say to hell with it and buy 13's in regular shoes. As of now my left foot is locked in place with a tiny bit of heel slip and my right has a little more slip. I was considering either going 12 EW for my next pair and risk being too loose or dropping down to an 11.5 EW and risk choking off my left foot. Or I could stay with the 12 W. Even my best friend who is a 10.5 in regular shoes wears a 9.5 W in these.

No Redwing suggestions please. I'm a welder so i'm harder than hell on my feet. They don't offer Vibram soles. Last time I was in there they had me in an 11.5 H which I guess is wider than extra wide or a 12 king toe box model.

I'm also 5'11" 155 if it makes the image of these any funnier.

I have no advice for you.  but Im laughing with on the comedy of your shoe size.
I'm a size ten.  I'm 6'3".  They call me tiny toes at work.  It looks weird.   They also called me little squeak for awhile when the floors were freshly waxed and my boots made noise wherever I went.

Best friend I mentioned is 6'4"/6'5" depending on how straight he stands up. He just started wearing 11's for his workout shoes. I call him lady feet.

You think that's bad, former NFLer Byron Leftwich wears a size 8. He is 6'5" and weighed 260ish.

My feet stopped growing when I was 11 years old.

I wear a size 13B.

I can go skiing without the skis.

Don't fit me and don't have Vibram soles so they're out. Also enjoy the Kevlar lining, stainless steel shank, and toe cap of my Matterhorns. Redwing doesn't offer anything close.

Also 99% of people are like "they make XL socks!?"

Yep.

Also wear the same size glove as my 6'8" friend. I have stupid proportions.

You should give Chippewas a try, I'm pretty sure they are Vibram soled. Fwiw, they are the snuggest most perfect fit boot I've ever owned. I think you can get them with a composite toe, too, instead of steel if you want.

Made in USA, to boot!

My older brother's the same height as you but has two shoe sizes on ya. A size 17 is roughly 2" longer than a 13 it's comical.

And yes I can ski on them. Been that way since I was 17. Girls used to love putting their foot, inside their shoe, inside one of my shoes.

Chippewa, Carolinas.....there's no way you are harder on your boots than I am at my job. The 9" Chippewa super logger is the only work boot I'll buy for working at my job. BTW I work for a drilling company and stand in mud muck snow rain etc and generally put my boots through hell and back.

Fuck that! Finding 15s is hard enough

As we get older the foot flattens out and the front toe area spreads.

I've gone to a moccasin toe style boot where it has a wider than normal toe box.  Keens are my favorite.  I believe they make a steel toe version.

I'm turning 23 next week. So you're saying i'm screwed when I get older . I've seen Keen's offerings and while they are highly regarded, I believe i'd melt through them quite quickly. I think I may just order the 12 EW version of my current boot.

I have a pair of Carolina CA1919's that I bought for free climbing on and into a lot of the coal processing machines that were outside the prep plant when I used to play in coal mines. They don't make that model anymore. Made in the US, waterproof, ST... The only steel toed boot that a straight 12 fit fine. Even Wolverine's 12 4E didn't fit and I had to move to a 13 in their stuff. My former boss who is probably twice as hard as me on my feet loved Chippewa so i'll check them out. I've rested 1000 lb I-beams on my boots for re-rigging, used as a base to torch stuff off of, had a front end loader's bucket accidentally set down on my toes, and taken them to -20 F without a hitch. They're just in need of replacement
