SA  Garrison  Stainless  45 ACP

Bought new from LGS.  I brought it home and field stripped, cleaned and lubed w/ Breakfree LP.  I took it to the range with S&B red & green box 230 gr ammo, and a couple of Wilson Combat mags.  I loaded it up and Bam Bam Jam. Pretty much every third round failed to eject, with the case mouth jammed against the left side of the breech. After 4.5 magazines of this, the slide seized about 2/3 open. I couldn't pull it closed.  It closed when I smacked the muzzle against my workbench at home. When I disassembled it, I saw that the bottom of the slide was caked with brass that had been scraped off the top round(s) in the mag by an electro pencil marking that had been left on the slide after forging. They had missed a finishing operation but had used that slide anyway.
This wasn't a major thing for me, but if someone had bought that SA 1911 to defend themself with, they might have died with a carelessly assembled firearm in their hand.
I won't ever consider buying another Springfield Armory firearm.

Bought a Steyr produced Chileno Mauser 1912-61 in 7.62 Nato from a well known internet C&R vendor and it upon arrival, it wouldn't chamber a round.

Steve at Rose Action Sports reamed the chamber and target crowned the bbl.

The second trip to the range uncovered the rifle also had a broken firing pin.

Found a guy who rebuilt the firing pin for a reasonable cost.

Owner/vendor was a class act and gave me 100% credit for what I had to spend to get the rifle operational.

Ended up being a great shooter with what was likely an unfired 03-A3 bbl before being tuned up.

Ruger Mkiii 22/45.  I broke my rule of never buying a used .22 handgun.  Then I remembered why I had that rule.  After much volquartsen and some super glue it finally runs.  And the fucking sights won't zero when maxed out.  So I had to put a red dot on it.  Piece of shit.
Have a blessed day.

Hellion I guess. Nice rifle, scratched the “different” itch, somewhat of a pedigree.

Fucking thing was 4MOA with a dozen different loads I tried.

I already have a BCM. So I traded it

I forgot about the JoeKen AK pistol I had.

Two or three jams per mag. I passed it off on some random guy at a gun show.  I didn't realize how bad they were until after I ordered mine.

Reliably.
Wasn’t such a good deal on a gun after all.

That’s funny—I actually bought a nice semi auto 1400 fully expecting it to be a piece of shit.   But it was cheap.  It’s turned out to be a great bird gun.  I do always take my Citori as a backup though

The first new revolvers that I bought, a new production S&W 586 and a Ruger GP100.  This was 7-8 years ago, the 586 had a clocked barrel that I noticed a week after I bought it, the GP100 had a cylinder with flutes cut wrong resulting in each chamber having a very thin wall and a thick one on one side, also noticed after about a week after I bought it and glad I found that one because it could have actually caused problems had I fired it.

Both of these were my first two new revolvers I bought after I got the revolver bug (since recovered although I still have a great appreciation for wheel guns) - the big difference was how each company responded - both fixed the problem but S&W customer service was not great at all, long wait time, poor communication but they did fix it after 7-8 weeks.  Ruger, on the other hand was great, apologetic and not only sent the GP100 back within two weeks but also went over the entire revolver and even gave it a trigger job and re-zeroed the sights.  Still, after those experiences I decided not to buy any new production wheel gun from either company although I'd be much more likely to get a ruger, but I'll still probably stick to guns made before the millennium.

My buddies bought it for me, so I couldn't complain much. But the experience did save me from further money loss. Because when they relaunched the R51 I said no fucking way am I buying another Remington firearm. Same for when I decide to get a budget bolt gun, it was either Ruger or Savage (went Ruger).

Came in to post the same gun. 870 tactical.

Understand. Mine was a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 ACP / .45 LC. Would do well to hit minute of man at 25 yds. It got sold...

I’ve had some pretty bad luck with new S&W revolvers in the last couple years.Three of them had issues right out of the box: a 340PD with a dead trigger, a 43C with the cylinder latch stuck in the forward position, and a 617 that was out of time, heavy lead build out ..
And then there’s a  686 with a defective rubber grip that looks like it melted.Weird defect for a brand-new gun.All of these were new in the box. Pretty disappointing to see this many issues with new S&W revolvers.

+1 since they're being underrepresented.

Everybody said they were awesome way back when I bought mine. I still don't know if that was all  bs or if they really went downhill rapidly.

I have bought over 330 guns and the only one I can think of is a Sig Mosquito. I kept it and messed with it for 2 years before I traded it away at the same gun store where I bought it.
If I edited the post above it's more than likely because I suck at typing. If I didn't, I was either in too big of a hurry or just missed it.

Funny how the Sig Mosquito always makes the top three on these types of threads. And for good reason, my dad had one that was a huge POS. He traded it for a Umarex 1911 22 at the same store that he still has today and is fairly reliable.

Taurus 1911

Never could get an entire magazine to run through it. Sometimes it would run a whole mag through on one trigger pull. Ended up cracking the frame.

They fixed it and it is ok now, not 100% reliable but shootable. This was before all of the cheap Turkish clones started coming out.

1911 I think I have the bugs worked out but going to sell it just in case.

Ruger Max 9.  Firing pin broke the 3rd or 4th time I brought it to the range . Maybe 2, or 3 hundred rounds through it

I’ve had several Ruger firearms over the years and never had an issue.  Hoping this is just a fluke

I've had a few Rugers that needed to go back to the factory, but they always fixed the issue.

The running joke at the gun shop is that Ruger has great customer service and repairs because they have so much practice.

No sir, AMF bought HD in the very late 60's. They were gone by '81.....

Anyhoo, super early Bushmaster. Chamber was tight, several other problems, 2nd worst AR I've ever had.

POF in 308. Jesus, what a raging POS. Worst AR I've ever had. Wouldn't make a reliable door stop.

Springfield 1911 compact. Barrel must have been sized with a rusty drill bit. It ran reliably, but shot that 300 MOA fan of death.

Sig 556 gas piston whatever rifle. Light primer strikes, failure to extract.....

I would say these were the most disapointing..

CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62x39mm.
Had to hit the bolt handle as hard as you could to chamber a round.

Never was able to get it working right and CZ was of little help, I was glad to send it down the road.

I have shot many other pistols of the same model since and they did not have the issues reported.

Late '80's Colt Gold Cup .45acp.
Marlin .444 lever action (older JM ser#). Gun was fine, it's just I split my eyebrow open (scope eye) on the first shot. Totally my fault.
80's SGW (Seattle Gun Works) Colt XM177 knockoff. Nice gun, except for the unannounced/uninitiated 3-4 round bursts it would frequently spit out. I wish I still kept that one.

Only runs with the two mags it came with, and dont even think about suppressing it.

My first was a Krebs Custom Saiga AK that wouldn't feed or eject properly. I returned it to Krebs only to have a tech Dremel and file on the bolt, feed ramp and chamber entrance. They wanted to return the rifle after performing those repairs and I refused to accept it. After talking to the shop manager and finally Marc Krebs, Marc agreed to send me a replacement rifle. I promptly sold it after receiving it.

The second was a DSArms SA58 FAL that had multiple issues. The upper and lower would separate while shooting because the takedown lever didn't have enough tension and the trigger pull was in excess of 12 lbs (that's the highest the gauge would read) even though it was advertised to be between 6-8 pounds. I not only had to pay for shipping both ways, I had to pay them to tune the trigger to the advertised weight. They told me this after I already shipped them the rifle. They did at least replace the frame lock lever under warranty. I promptly sold it after receiving it.

My third mistake was a new Ruger GP100 Match Champion right after they were released. The trigger wouldn't stay cocked in SA, the cylinder would bind, the rear sight was crooked and the grip had a 1/16" gap between the rear frame and grip. After I received it back, I shot it once and sold it.

The first century arms CETME I ever bought was a complete POS. The magwell was too long and it wouldn't grab the next cartridge in the magazine. I should have bought the Romanian PSL I was eyeballing at that gun show.
