I never thought I'd ever want a plastic gun, or any .45 that wasn't a 1911.  But that thing is just too damn cool not to have.

Theres no way that it is that good.  I do have to admit that I was not interested in the XD, but then the 5" version caught my eye.  When I got to hold one and feel the trigger pull I was hooked.

hmmm have yet to hear ANY reports of such issues with the xd45.

please stop spewing false rumors.

The slide on the 45 is melonite which is identical to tennifer that glock uses. older xd 9/40/357 did has slide rust problems but that has been fixed LONG ago. there is currently a thread running on jam/failure rates on the xd45 in the handgun forum. none have been reported at all.

I have the Hogue Grip and TLR-1 on my HK and am planning on the Hogue Grip on the XD

actually the hoague is gone now. i have been experimenting with a light coat of spray on plastidip on the grip. i really prefer it and the gun is a bit more stable inmy hand than with the hogue. The hogue grip tended to twist a bit during shotting. the plstidip spray gives me a good rubbery grip without movement and thinner.

Yep take er to the range and call us back. My XD45 was much more impressive than even my XD40,the first 26 rounds downrange were all centererd in or just around the X-ring. I have never had a pistol including an HK that did not need some sight adjustment or learning curve to shoot accurately right out of the box. I think you are gonna like it.

I haven't had any mag issue with my XD40 I've had for two years. However my XD does rust. If I don't oil that bitch down really good after a range session, it starts to rust on the grip saftey, and rear portion of the slide after about 2hrs.

on the xd 45.

please provide a link. i have seen a few issues with other calibers but never on the 45.

as for mags... ALL semi auto pistols can have magazine problems. the mag is the heart of the gun. If SA made it right by replaceing them in a couple of cases whats the problem?

i have had 1911's with foctory mags that went straight in the garbage can. i have ar mags done the same way. That does not condemn the firearm.

Here are the last five .45ACPs I have bought...

My favorite of the bunch, hands down, and the only one that I am already shopping for a duplicate of, is the XD.  YMMV.

[#34]
the xd45 is NOT a small gun. that said it conceals just as well as the 4' model. the only difference is 1" of barrell.

for an easy comparison it would be on par with a glock 21 of a full size HK. ease of concealment depends on the carry rig and your dress and the amount of concealment you need. when i carry the xd it's usually open carry or under a loose over shirt.

That may not be all that unusual.  I much prefer Glocks to XDs in 9mm (small frame), but the XD has won me over on the big frames (in large part because of my small hands).

i have an xd 9 <ok it's monas> i more or less felt the same way about. good gun and shot well just another decent gun.

the 45 is a whole different ballgame. damn near the same size as the 9mm but seems to shoot MUCH better. also the fact it carries a shitload of 45acp it won me over FAST.

i actually shoot my 9mm more <traing for the 45> than i ever have. it's grown on me significantly since i got the xd45.

honestly i can't say enough good things about the xd45. it's hands down been one of the best out of the box pistols i have ever bought. <and i have a few>

i won't say it's as accurate for me as my kimber gold match, but it wasn't designed to be either. it's more than capable, tough as nails, and dead nutz reliable for a pretty cheap price.

Did you try hairspray to keep it in place.  When I was a kid, I was into freestyle on bikes.  We would always wear out our hand grips pretty quick, and they were made by www.odigrips.com.  ODI recommended using non-aerosol hair spray to keep the grips on the handlebars IIRC.  The guys who didn't use hairspray were always having trouble keeping their grips in place.

Those are great pistols!

Many people who like Glocks but don't have big enough hands to hold them well have done very well with the XD series.  S.W.A.T. Mag gave the 45XD a great review.  I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

interesting point.

no i didn't. that said i prefer the plastidip cating to the original grip vs the extra bulk and finger grooves of the houge<sp> grip. the handall was instlled due to the fact when my hand got sweaty the grip got slick. <like most hard plastics> this cured that problem and gave me the original grip profile back.

I would never trade a XD for a HK.  I'm more of a Glock person myself.  I do like the XD45 over the G21.  Glock should be flattered...since XD is obviously trying to copy their design.  The 1911 grip safety on the XD is worthless.  At least is has 13 rounds in it.  Keeps it in the ballgame for sure.
