I spend 12 hours a day in my car and was thinking satelite radio may make those 12 hours pass a little faster. Anyone have any suggestions to which is a better choice and why? |
I would give precisely the same answer with regards to Sirius. - CD |
| Sirius. I have had both and that's my pref. I guess it just depends on what you like to listen to. I went with Sirius initially because I listen to Stern, but NASCAR is on Sirius now also, so that's another bonus for me. Best thing is to go to both websites and listen to the channels that you are interested in and make your decision based off of that. If you still can't decide, as much as I hate to say it, XM does hold it's signal better in heavily forested areas and under bridges/tunnels, etc. from my experience. Hopefully Sirius can do something about that soon. And for what it's worth, there are many rumors floating around that the two may merge in the near future, so any decision may end up being a moot point anyway. |

Signup online for a free trial of each, then choose. I've been with Sirius for a few years, and love it. It's worth it just for my 3 to 4 hours in the car daily. Favorite channels: Octane (20), Alt Nation (21), Faction (28), Blues (74), Patriot (144, Conservative Talk) |

I have Sirius, never listened to XM. If you spend that much time in your car, satellite radio will definitely help to pass the time. I have a removable that I can listen to inside the house or in the car but find myself listening via the internet most of the time instead of popping the unit out of my car. Same with work, I listen from the net. |

I have both. Longtime XM user, newly Siriused..... I prefer XM due to the better signal strength and more agreeable play lists for the pop channels, i.e. 40's 50's 60's and 70's plus Deep Tracks and Top Tracks. If you're younger than me, you might find the heavy metal stuff better on Sirius. |

I have found that the music channels on both are basically similar. The difference is the talk/entertainment/sports. Look at both sites on the 'net and then make your decision. I have Sirius in my car, but the girlfriend has XM in hers. We like both so we're keeping both. |
| Both music selections totally beat commercial radio but I think that XM has too many commercials on their talk stations. (I don't know enough about Sirius.) One of the main reasons I keep XM is to avoid the commercials and great reception even in the mountains. |
I had sirius for about a year (until my receiver was stolen last winter). The ads were just starting on Siriius. I also noticed that the music stations seemed to have a pretty limited rotation of music. They were starting to sound like they were only playing the "top40" of whatever category of music the station was dedicated to. |
What ads? The only ads I have heard are on the programs that it just relays, and so you get to listen to the ads on that program -- it would be abit hard to remove them. Ads paid for on Sirius generated content I have NEVER heard. |
I love Sirius. Even if you hate Howard Stern, he has two channels and fills them with really bizarre radio personatites. One guy with a a weekly show thinks he was abducted by aliens since he was a child, and answers questions every week about different alien species. Here's a pic and his website![]() www.thecomingoftan.com/ |
Sirius has no comercials on their music stations. There are some on the talk stations though. XM has comercials on both. |
XM has commercials on 4 music stations, and obviously on talk stations. I've never heard a commercial on an XM music station, but then again I don't listen to the top 20 channels.....if I wanted the top 20 rotation I could select from a dozen FM stations. |
XM has such a big advantage in the R&B genre, its really no competition. I see a few say XM has commercials, I have never heard a commercial, not one. I listen 10+ hours a day. |
XM commercial music channels are in the 20's. Only about 2 per hour, and thye are clear channel stations. XM lost a lawsuit about the commericals. |
