Did you get one?  How much was it for?

Reason I ask is that I got mine last night and it was for $150 before taxes, and $134 after.  This is even less than the insulting $250 I got last year.

I have never had a job that gave Christams bonuses.

I do, however, get a performance bunis near the holidays.

Well, this is actually called "profit sharing" by the main office.  I know what proffit sharing is, and $134 ain't it.

Never get anything from the company, but one of our clients (major name consumer electronics company) usually gives me something nice.  We'll see though...

I got mine two hours ago.  A $100 gift certificate to The Home Depot.  Last year I got a $100 gift certificate to Lowe's.

How many of you who don't, didn't, or won't get one work for the gov't or some other public entity?

In construction, X-mas bonuses are a tradition for anyone in management or supervisory jobs, and even for the field personnel too in alot of companies.

I interviewed with one company when I got out of school that offered 2% of the profits as a bonus.  I was to be on a $16 mil project that was going to take one year.
5% profit (industry standard) on $16 mil is $800K. 2% of that is $16k.  Not a bad bonus for a years work.  Hell, even if the job had taken 2 years, you're looking at an $8k a year bonus.

Hindsight sure is 20/20.  Wonder if those guys are still hiring.....

My Bonus is still having a job.

I'll take it...

Looks like my dads bonus will be getting laid off since he refused to move to Canada and get paid the same amount in CANADIAN dollars. Just another victim of the mass exodus of American jobs. Five years from retirement, too.

It's been an exceptional year.

I get mine at the mandatory Christmas party on Friday night. This has been a record sales and profit year. We are expected to get %15 of our base salary. In addition, I get 2.5% bonus override on my direct billing that I already earned a participation share on in the month following receipt of the invoice payment throughout the year.

This year's bonus is already spent on real estate rehab.

12/19/2002 1:29:29 PM EDT
[#17]
I get a small break before next semester.
12/19/2002 1:30:00 PM EDT
[#18]
All the employees where I work got a $75 gift certificate to either SAMs Club or Wallmart.  Not to shabby since everyone got one and there are about 8000 employees.
12/19/2002 1:36:29 PM EDT
[#19]
My company gives bonuses to the non salasried folks.  They get them at the Christmas party.  I don't know what they are, but I bet they have 3 0's in em.  We get our annual "comission" check end of Jan.  Mine should be ok, but not near as big as the last 2 years.

Have never got one at this job. Large corp too big for that stuff.

I did get to GIVE the fucking place a bonus
I got to work 10 hours last weekend for free cause we moved into a new office. I was told today to take it off my time card. I said OK then grabbed the wife's picture off my desk and left. In my mind I quit. I drove to the closest place that looked like it sold beer and went in. It was a sub shop NO Beer but the subs looked good. So I sat down and ordered a sub. The guy who brought it to me says "IS your name JOHN " YUP I said turns out this guy used to work for me 16 years ago and left to open his own car repair biz and it failed and he hasn't had a good job since. He wasn't the smartest guy anyways. So I thought I would suck up that 10 hours and charge my crews time to some other jobs I have running and enjoy the fact that I can fuck off on the internet and still get paid.[:D] I went back to work pissed but I am employed

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, cause I think I was visited by some sprits today. It was pretty strange

Got a potted plant and then was asked to pay $10.00 each for a department lunch tomorrow catered sushi and beer, so it ain't all bad.

LOL. I'm not only getting nothing for Xmas, I've already been told I'll be working mandatory 16 hour tours on the 24th, 25th, 31st, and 1st...Happy Holidays.....
12/19/2002 2:13:53 PM EDT

Last years was $800, so this year has to be a $1000 or more. I'll post the amount when I get it on the 24th.

The Big B doesn't pay year end bonuses, but occasionally we get some token amount (some percentage (less than 1.0) of a week's salary).

My wife got a layoff notice - her job is being shipped to India - I hope Monsanto loses their asses on this debacle.

Where and when will the exodus of jobs off shore end?  When the value of the dollar sinks so low that it will pay off too put US citizens back to work.  Before that time we will suffer severe deflation (falling prices) caused by high unemployment and cheap imported goods.  This is Jack Welch's legacy, by the way.  He may be the most active promoter of moving US jobs to cheap labor markets.

No bonus here, but at least I have X-mas off this year. I'm just happy to be working with a lot of people in my town being unemployed for the holidays.

About $400, a box of Twinkies and a 2 liter of Hawaiian Punch...all from customers.

my bonus is the joy of working twice as hard doing the work of three people.

Gotta love that lean manufacturing BS
12/19/2002 3:29:13 PM EDT
[#29]
I gave out $500 in cash to each of the guys.
It would have been more but my accounts recievables is over loading my ass.
Though out the year if we have jobs that pay real nice I've found out that nothing says thanks better than a handfull of green backs.
I believe that to a point a bonus more than pays for itself.

The closest thing to a bonus we get is the boss buys BBQ and we get to take an hour and a half for lunch instead of the usual 30 minutes.
Oh well, things could be a lot worse.

God bless and hope everyone has a good holiday.

Nope.  Not a chance in hell.

Managers and above will probably get them, but when I asked, their response was:

"You should be thankful you have a job"

Ahh.  Corporate America.

Bonus was a damn frozen turkey....when I lived at home my mom and 2 brothers all worked at the same place as me....It is pretty hard to fit 4 frozen turkeys in the freezer. We usually gave 3 away to the soup kitchen.

Nada. I work for 'Eric The Hun, the Ebeneezer Scrooge of Lawyers, A Professional Legal Corporation.'

The office workers get a 5% (of annual salary) bonus this year, though!

So I am alone in my misery!

I haven't gotten a Christmas Bonus in over 20 years.  This year my company opted not to provide a Christmas Luncheon (with door prizes like stereos and cameras and gift certificates) and the usual WalMart gift certificates, as in years past.  Instead, the let us bring in food and eat at the office.

I'm just happy to have a job to come to with paychecks that do not bounce.

Yet.

Eric: No good deed goes unpunished. I usually give a month's  salary as a bonus, because my girls usually work their butts off. But last year a couple of them (no longer employed here) thought that wasn't enough and bitched incessently.
My staff was in such a foul mood I only gave them half the usual bonus. When the instigators finally got the courage up to brazenly ask why, I told them they would get the rest when the FIRST one of them had the good manners to say thank you. Looked like lemmings  coming in to my office.
As you know, all income in a law office should go directly to the employees, as we are open only for the sole purpose of providing jobs.
Do I sound a little bitter?

You don't work for Home Shopping Network by any chance, do you?  That's what we got every year.  The job I'm at now doesn't give us anything, except the indication that I should be glad I'm still employed.

Bonus?  You need a job before you can get a bonus.

I've been looking for a job for about a year now.  I'm one of those "unfortunate" persons in high tech, as our local politicians say.  They want to raise our income/property taxes and add a sales tax because state revenues are down.  Hmmmm.....I went from a six figure salary to zero and I should pay more taxes?
